"Nyaaaauuuuuuugh!"

Galaxia, formerly the golden soldier of shadow but now a repentant citizen of Subeta, still retained enough of her former instincts to spring up from her chair and draw a weapon in one lithe move. The Atebus city light outside her open window illuminated a creature of eyes and teeth, all of them fixed on Galaxia...

The creature came through the open window, stalking her around the room. Galaxia didn't strike with her glowing scimitar, though. giving the being time to speak further if it wished. Once, perhaps, she would have struck it down for the insolence, but she was a different person now.

The non-aggressive approach worked; after a few moments it began speaking again. SHE began speaking again, Galaxia recognized the high-pitched childlike voice now. "Are you surprised to see me again? After you thought you'd killed me? You're not so tough. You can't even always get your phone booths right. There are very strange phone booths out there other than your own, and sometimes the time winds blow. Do you want to hear a riddle? Will you let me ask it this time, and die if you can't answer it?"

Galaxia took a deep breath then slid her weapon back into the space of potential energy and cosmic foam, pausing to let...Sailor IronMouse...approach. The erstwhile golden monster stared at her former iron soldier and listened (though without agreeing to any sort of death) as the creature asked, "What...is...the Doctor's name??!"

Galaxia blinked. "Who?" She asked, practically out of habit. Then she added, quickly, "I meant the actors. His actual name isn't known yet, I don't think, or at least the news hasn't percolated to general Subeta. I'd have to ask someone who is more specialized in the lore."

IronMouse had opened her mouth wide as if to lunge and bite, but drew back as Galaxia answered. "It's real out in space and time somewhere, too. You...know...about that sort of thing now?"

Galaxia smiled and gestured to her Wardrobe. "There's a certain blue box with some fascinating relics, and many references to that in particular on Subeta. Plus Doctor Who's pacifism and distrust and dislike of guns was popular in Japan even when I was...well. Is that where you came up with that riddle?"

"Yes," IronMouse answered after a pensive moment. "Some of the materials I was studying to find bearers of true Star Seeds involved attempts at cross-licensing and rebroadcasts with the BBC. I figured it might slow you down, at least, that day, if I asked you that question. As I said earlier, I had...other phone booths on my mind than your own. This allowed the Master's time winds to find me, some kind of resonance with potential mouse minions. He didn't get me, though, when you removed the bracelets it destabilized my molecular matrix and he found another mouse host. Fortunately in another far future the Doctor has spoken of, where mice have developed into the dominant humanoid race, they had heard of me. Heard of ME!" IronMouse added with pride. "They pulled my Star Seed from the time winds. Taught me many things. Made me strong again! Though they could not fix some of the changes. And I think it's gotten worse since I came to find you, tracking you through that Rift to make you pay for everything you've done." All of IronMouse's eyes blinked at once. It would be unsettling to others, but Galaxia did not allow herself to flinch.

"That explains why I could never find yours when I tried to put them back." Sailor IronMouse stared at Galaxia at this comment. Well, Sailor Iron Mouse hadn't stopped staring, but her eyestalks leaned even closer. "You tried to put us back?"

"I did," Galaxia answered quietly. "I succeeded in some cases, but not all, and I don't know if it's ever going to be finished. And I don't think I'm ever going to be free of the responsibility for what I've done."

"You've killed billions."

"The version of me that wrongly thought she could imprison Chaos alone without getting warped by it did, yes, and that is my fault. I'm sorry, but that doesn't make it better and it doesn't bring them back."

The laughter was high and chittering. "You sound like him, too."

"Do I?"

Sailor IronMouse drew back. "Enough so that I think he'd be disappointed in me if I tried to take my revenge. Although maybe my people would disagree."

"Um," Galaxia started to say, then winced. "So, about that, eventually the Cauldron created another Star Seed for the Chuu homeworld. I think they'd welcome you if you chose to return!" She added quickly, with her hands up in placatory manner. "But they don't need you."

All of those rift eyes widened, and for a moment Galaxia feared she'd said the exact wrong thing. But then IronMouse settled on the table, dipping a tendril into the wine. "So I can decide what I want to do. I'm not bound to the Sailor War."

"No", Galaxia said, and smiled with the peace that time and trying to do the right thing had brought. "We are both free, Jnana," using the name for the person in front of her before she'd been Sailor Chuu and then Animamate Sailor IronMouse. "If we want to be, to find new purpose and new friends."

Sailor IronMouse shrugged with her whole body. Or was that a nod? Either way, the time for killing between the two of them was done. Justified bitterness and anger might remain and forgiveness might never come but, in a story as old as sapience, building something together through the willingness to change would be the future.
