Faeries are not the simple, cute little butterfly-winged sprites that litter children stories and movies. Sure, there might be a handful out there that fit this motif; however, the mass majority? The truth is often far darker. Mortals are not the only ones that can be victims of 'pranks' gone array by the Fair Folk; sometimes, even those of Fae blood find themselves wrapped into something they didn't agree to.Anna is one of those victims, used for the entertainment of others since her birth.
Tales of a husband and wife unable to have children and miraculously being blessed with one - often by finding a child left to the elements, still clinging to life, or finding them in an odd place such as in a bamboo stick or in a clam - is a tale as old as time. Sometimes these children are blessed by the heavens or some other entity, and they go to accomplish great deeds. Other times, these couples are 'blessed' with a child by the Fae, which is often a cruel joke -- a ill-tempered child that never seems to age, no matter how many years passed, always staying small and dependent on their family. After all, the Fae often talk in riddles, or take things word-for-word; some can have good intentions, and others can be cruel tricksters or with malicious intent. In this regard, they can be as varied as people; you can never be sure what will happen when you are granted a wish or make a pact with the Fair Folk.
Sometimes these Fae-given children - Changelings - simply never grow up, or they're simply an old Fae glamoured as a babe to be pampered in their old age. But what if they did grow up?
