For days the bird had watched her now and for days he had heard those cries. How could a person be so careless and cruel? Slowly, the bird moved along the tree, closer to the window. She sat on her bed, cell phone in one hand, a cigarette in the other hand, her face stained with tears and cheap mascara. Crying her precious eyes out. The same scene as yesterday, the same scene as two days ago, the same scene as last week...
The bird had seen enough. Heard enough. Planned enough. It was about time to do something, after all it was his holy mission. So the bird left his tree and moved over to the roof of her house where he had found a dormer open on his first day. "Ssshhh, sleep now." he whispered and one brief touch of the forehead made her sink down. Soon the pain would be gone. The bird had heard her eyes beg for help and he would save them and take them to a better place.
