The tea house chef had been steaming baozi, folding jiaozi, and simmering tea eggs all morning- the rich aroma of star anise and soy sauce filling the whole kitchen and the dining area beyond. WuLong, who had joyfully stopped by to check on the preparations, lifted the lid of the pot of marinating tea eggs, the hot steam from the tea within wafted up in a white cloud. The large dragon craned her neck and pushed her very large head through....and was quite surprised to see one of the eggs had cracked in a peculiar way, with tiny red claws poking through the shell. A moment later, a small red dragon pup emerged, no bigger than a human palm, with scales that glimmered like the golden flame of a paper lantern, and eyes glittering in newborn excitement.

"Oh my, hello sweet one" Wulong whispered, as the little creature stretched it's delicate warm body and yawned, breathing out the tiniest puff of steam. The dragon pup looked up at her then began to chirp happily. WuLong scooped up the pup in her large powerful claws. "How lucky you are to be born at such an auspicious time" She said to it gently, watching it playfully float up and down the length of her forearm.

The next day, as the sun began to set and everyone was rushing to prepare for the Lunar New Year celebrations, she found the dragon pup, who she named Luck, floating around her red paper lanterns. Using its small but nimble claws, it carefully hung each lantern at the perfect height, adjusting them with great precision. When guests gathered to admire the most beautifully arranged lanterns in the Teahouse, WuLong smiled and glanced at her helper, her tiny pup, who was perched proudly on the highest lantern, adding its own soft golden glow to welcome the new year.

From that day forward, the little dragon became the teahouse's most beloved New Year helper, and every Lunar New Year, residents of the Tea House and the city beyond would leave out tea eggs, hoping for their own tiny miracle to bring luck and light to their new year.
