Delving Deeper:

Will Solace became the head counselor of Cabin 7 after the untimely deaths of his two older brothers, Michael Yew and Lee Fletcher. They died in battle, leaving the young blond in charge of the rest of his brethren. Will is a very reliable and friendly guy, who makes everyone around him feel at ease. He's been described as being similar to a lanky cat that's stretched out and sleeping in a patch of sunlight. Even the hot-tempered leader of the Aries Cabin, Clarisse La Rue, listens to Will Solace when he speaks. Don't be fooled into thinking he can't be serious when he needs to be, though: Will is not afraid of standing his ground and ordering people around if it means they'll be kept out of danger.

While his older brothers were very well-rounded Apollo children, blessed with skills in many different areas, Will didn't inherit as many abilities as them. In fact, he doesn't have very many godly powers at all. He openly states he has no combat ability whatsoever. He doesn't have any musical talents either, aside from the ability to use super-sonic whistles, which does come in handy from time to time when he needs to stun an enemy.

Will is exceptional in one particular area, however, and that's in the healing arts. He's the best medic Camp Half-Blood has, and therefore is responsible for managing the camp's clinic, which he runs with the help of his younger brothers and sisters. He can cure poisons, stab wounds, or any other physical injury through singing and chanting, along with the help of various salves and potions that he makes at camp. What's more, is that Will seems to have a natural talent of sensing other people's energy and pain. This level of empathy no doubt heightens the accuracy of the rest of his healing abilities, as an empathetic doctor can sense, and therefore treat, injuries faster than one without such talents. Even Apollo himself admits that Will has surpassed him in the healing arts department, and the god is pleased to see his child excel and succeed his expectations.

Despite his obvious medical expertise and great influence with his peers, Will doesn't seem to hold himself in very high esteem. He wishes he was more talented in combat, so he could help his friends and family fight when the need arises. Chiron does his best to reassure Will that his skills are desperately needed and appreciated, but the blond still seems to think he doesn't do enough to help the people he cares about.

Will's a very good-hearted person who's not afraid of putting his foot down if it means ensuring a patient's safety, as Nico di Angelo found out after the war with Gaia. The two forged a strong bond after the war, and eventually started dating. The relationship is good for both boys, as Nico encourages Will to be more self-confident, and Will helps the son of Hades feel secure and wanted. Apollo is probably their biggest supporter, much to both of the boy's delight. Maybe now that the war is over, these two can enjoy a relatively peaceful life together, behaving like normal teenagers for once.
