We're all just a ship of fools chasing phantoms, heedless of what really underwrites natural law.

Okabe is a scientist -- a lab rat, if you will. He's also a bit daft. He's prone to long, grandiloquent soliloquies that leave others staring at him in confoundment, though he rarely seems to notice. His head is full of Great, Brilliant Ideas, but he struggles with explaining these to anyone in a way they can understand, leaving him perennially frustrated at the state of his hired help.
Okabe has a tendency to give strange nicknames to everyone he meets, whether they like it or not. This is due partly to the fact that his memory for "unimportant matters" is terrible, so he forgets real names almost instantly. He's also caffeine-addicted, tends to stay up to odd hours, and spends entirely too much time in his laboratory.
Okabe often experiments on himself, frequently with disastrous results. It's not entirely clear to anyone whether he's actually killed himself and returned as a zombie as a result of his testing, or if the side effects have merely had some kind of putrefying effect. Either way, he's decided it might be best to lay off the experimentation for a while, and is eagerly soliciting for a willing "apprentice" to step in and be tested on in his stead.
(He's loosely based on the lead character from Stein's Gate, but I've taken liberties with the character. Obviously)
