Faye Leodove was lovingly raised by her high moon-elf mother, Maedaoine Leodove, and Aunt Sorawa Leodove. Her mother was well-off, owning a successful business, selling herbs and decanters filled with different scents and oils. Her father had been a cartographer traveling with his party, even though he was human (and about 4 feet shorter than Maedaoine) he was still extremely handsome and other-wordly charming. Her mother had fallen for him, only spending a few months together before his unrest wore on him and he moved on with his band of followers. At nights her mother filled her head with tales of his adventures and Faye caught herself often dreaming of one day having her own stories to tell.

Due to her half-elf heritage (and the way she was conceived) she was sometimes looked down upon by the fellow elves in the city. Receiving turned up noses, mocking in the streets, or higher prices for goods/wares.

But it wasn't all that bad, as Faye had a best friend, Aubrina, who comforted her when the embarrassment or hate for oneself got too much. Aubrina was a kind-hearted soul, daughter to a wealthy merchant. She was a beautiful pure-blooded elf with long golden locks that mostly commonly fell into two plaits tied with crimson ribbon.

The two girls would go on 'adventures' after their chores were done. Finding new places to climb and chart in Faye's sketchbook. On one of their adventures in the forest they found a secluded clearing where the sun shone brighter and there were wildflowers upon wildflowers. They would spend hours in this "magical garden" and she would go home each night telling outlandish stories to her parent figures of seeing fey creatures who would whisper in her ear that she was to achieve a great destiny.

After a couple of years on one of these excursions her and Aubrina fell asleep in the clearing after a luxurious picnic. It was then that Faye had a vivid dream of three beautiful women encircling her as lightning surged through them, into her. She awoke with a start, the taste of metal in her mouth and a cold sweat lay over her. Her heart raced with anticipation or excitement and she had to blink a few times to clear her vision. After the daze, subsided she went to wake up Aubrina. Her dream drifted to the back of her mind as the two wandered back to the city chatting happily, even with the tingle of electricity still sparking in the palm of her hands.

Shortly after the dream in the clearing there were mishaps. Almost setting the study on fire, turning into a plant, and the worst: teleporting herself into another dimension before popping back in front of her frightened mother. She was sent off to live with a local sorcerer, in hopes of combating her chaotic tendencies.

Bairahome was a well respected practitioner of the arcane, who absolutely despised her. While he would never forthright say it, in fear of losing business or worse, status, he never lost a chance to tell Faye in seclusion that it was her tarnished lineage and lack of a pure arcane bloodline which led her 'magic' to be so disreputable. As he, himself, was descended from all-powerful dragons. He sought only to treat her so poorly and remove her will so she was to never practice and ruin the reputation of their city or his status.

To do so he reprimanded her in many ways both emotionally and physically. He held a secret that none in the city knew and with the help of his own deceptive magic and physical force, did he convince Faye to do horrible things to the others who were imprisoned beneath his homey shop. He lied that it would make her stronger, that taking lives was all a part of the "magical gift" she had received. She spent countless nights laying awake replaying the sound of the screams in her small attic above his dwellings. Making her despise not only herself but the gift of the arcane that was bestowed upon her, demanding she never pursue it as it would only cause pain. When she vowed never to use it, in fear of doing others harm and bringing more embarrassment and pain to her families reputation, Bairahome sent her away, disgusted even more so at her. But as she walked away - he smiled, his plan complete.

Still the dream of the women vibrated in the back of her mind and the uncomfortable surge to use her magic welled up within her. With an undeniable urge to break her vow she concluded the best of both worlds would be to release the pent up energy without the danger of hurting anyone. Back to the clearing she went, and here she practiced on her own, finding her own cadence to quell the rhythm of the arcane that beat so fiercely inside her. Confiding only in Aubrina, who helped jump start Faye's progress by stealing a few tomes from behind Bairahome's back.

A few months passed and no one was any wiser. Faye grabbed her satchel and headed back to the clearing. She settled down and dug out the newest of Bairahome's stolen tomes. After a few minutes of deep reading, she heard rustling at the entrance of the clearing. Surprised she turned her head quickly and blinked her eyes as they adjusted to the sunlight. There in the shadowed path stood Bairahome, a couple of elven shop keeps, two of the cities guards, and her best friend in handcuffs.

The sorcerer stepped in front of the pack and pointed a finger directly at her. Shouting obscenities and blaming her for first the stolen items and then for the destruction of his arcane shop in town. Aubrina argued on her behalf but was unheard over the screaming of the others. Through the screams and confusion Faye gathered that Bairahome had noticed things going missing and confronted Aubrina - forcing her to tell him about Faye's hidden secret. Then at some point Bairahome's shop had burst into flames, with him inside, and he was now blaming her.

Upon seeing her holding his book was evidence enough and declared she and Aubrina be taken to the courts and put on trial for attempted murder. Her confusion then turned to anger as she started to argue back. His eyes glinted and the corners of his mouth turned up into a rapid smirk before dropping back down to a scowl as he ran forward wagging his finger directly in her face. Instinctively she grabbed his wrist to push his hand away.

BOOM.

A huge shock of lightning exploded from inside of her, knocking her back. When she awoke she groggily shook her head and looked at the burned area in front of her. The charred smell of flesh hit her nostrils as she stared in shock and horror at the sight before her. There was only one body left in the clearing, and the tears silently started to fall as she walked instinctively forward to where her friend had once stood. Kneeling by the burned husk she reached out and twisted her fingers through the untarnished golden hair of Aubrina. She hated to even think it, but he had been right, she was too dangerous. Cutting a lock of her friends hair and tying it with a crimson ribbon, she quickly gathered her belongings and left the city-life behind her.
