I'm Bás. That's Death for you. Though I carry many names.

I'm one of the Nine Gates.

My Key is ever changing Time. He's been reborn too many times by now. And he's still as stubborn as ever. Talk about a hippie love and peace freak. I still love him though.

About:

Bàs appears to be a young boy, not older than ten and usually wears a black robe that covers his feet with a hood of the same color covering most of his head/face. When with others he usually switches into a more casual outfit consisting of jeans and a hoodie. He wears a skull shaped mask on top of his head, held by a black leather strap. His hair is red in color as are his eyes which are without pupils, instead there's a black spiral pattern to be seen. The bridge of his nose and parts of his cheeks are covered with freckles that look strangely symmetrical.

Whenever he pulls the mask down on his face it fuses with it and -as he grows in size- he becomes the true Grim Reaper as he known by everybody and depicted in many pictures, wielding a large scythe with ease which he can pull from another realm and make it appear and disappear at will.

Bàs (Irish for Death) is brazen, cocky, often foul mouthed, loud and overly self confident. He's easily angered and at times curses, claiming that feelings and emotions are useless since all they seem to cause for mortals is trouble. Despite his claims he is utterly fascinated by them though and tries to understand them better.
Since he can shift in shape and size he usually uses a more adult form around his Key Time because he is, despite claiming that feelings are dumb, madly in love with him. He acts often careless and reckless but he's also very loyal and fiercely protective of those that are close to him. Usually he seems to try to pick fights but he's gotten softer since his latest reunion with Time. Overall he's still pretty much a brat however and the other Gates let him feel that.

Death is one of the Nine Gates, an immortal genderless being, gatherer of the souls of the deceased. He is there during the last moments of a human's life and cuts the 'thread' that connects a person's essence to its body. This essence usually floats around him in small glowing blue spheres and it is up to him to take them to the Gate Key who then welcomes the deceased into his realm and the afterlife. Whenever he is too late to collect the soul the person will turn into a wandering spirit which leaves Bàs with a feeling of guilt and anger which explains his temper a bit.

The other Gates treat him very much like a child although he might be -arguably- the oldest of them. Every one thousand years he and the other Gates meet up with their Keys to re-seal the gates that keep all the terrible creatures from the other side of the abyss from flooding the world and destroying the balance. Unlike him his Key Time has been reborn hundreds of times and is human.

Death's love for Time is absolute. He also enjoys to roam the ocean with him and a leech named Craic who works as a 'skin' for Bàs to give him another shape besides the 'little boy' one. Bàs is a bit of a glutton and loves fried foods and sweet treats although he technically doesn't need to eat. He also has a fondness for just being lazy in the sun and watching horror movies.
Death hates the Gate War. A lot. They have been at each other's throats for centuries upon centuries.
And he dislikes being treated like a child, mocked or made fun of be told what to do. He only accepts commands and criticism from Time but even with him he'll argue when he feels he's right. And of course Death believes he's always right.

Death is stronger than any average human but he hardly ever needs to use that strength. Compared to the other Gates he's not among the strongest though but he's very fast and can, like most of them, disappear and reappear into and from shadows and teleport to whatever location he wishes to.
Although he can't die he can be chained up and trapped but only by the Gates Prison and Abyss. Due to his temper he often reacts prematurely and gets himself into all sort of trouble. Also he tends to run his mouth which might hurt others and he realizes it usually much too late.
