Goutte was a kind creature, living on her own in a cottage by the forest. She loved the rain, even though thunderstorms were a little too scary for her. Every day, she went out to pick some berries in the forest (except during thunderstorms of course). One day, while she was picking from a particularly well garnished bush, she heard a whining coming from somewhere behind her. She left her basket and slowly approached, following the sound to some bushes. She looked underneath them, swept away a pile of wet leaves and picked up the most darling little puppy. He was shivering from cold and starving as well, and he had such a loving look in his eyes. That look truly said: 'will you be my hero?'

Goutte had never been anyone's hero before. She wasn't even sure she knew how to be one! But she couldn't leave the darling little puppy alone in the woods (especially not with a thunderstorm coming!) so she wrapped him in the shawl she kept in case of brisk winds and tucked him in the pocket of her overlarge anorak.
