"One last race?"

Tatl watched from a tree branch. It had taken almost the entire day, but they'd finally found a large sunny patch of grass. At the other end of the clearing Link and the Deku Butler stood ready, waiting on the start signal.

Tatl had thought this to be a silly idea. Waste an entire day to go off and play with the royal butler? They had more important things to do! She had (loudly) reminded the green clothed boy, but Link simply put on the Deku Mask like he hadn't heard a word she said.

Link was stubborn. Tatl had learned that quickly about her new partner. Throughout their entire adventure together, reliving the same 3 days over, he didn't give up. He was working so hard to save a land he didn't even belong to, she had to admire him. But once he got an idea in his head, she found the stubborness only served to annoy her.

"ON YOUR MARK!" She yelled at the top of her lungs. Both racers shifted forward just slightly.

"Why'd we come back this time? We're ready to fight the Skull kid, Link!" Tatl had asked, her confusion clear.

"Not just yet. Still one thing left to do." the boy had responded.

"GET SET!" Her call came. Even from her distance away, she could see the spark of excitement in both sets of eyes.

"A race?! Oh come on! Link there's no time!" Tatl had insisted.

"On the contrary, Tatl." Link had responded holding the ocarina up, "I've got all the time in the world."

The butler had purely lit up at the idea. The Deku King and Princess had both urged him to go. Within 3 hours of leaving the palace, they were here.

"GO!!!"

Grass and leaves kicked up as they took off. Tatl couldn't help but grin when Link pulled ahead near instantly. Despite the fact he was falling behind the Butler was grinning widely, tears in his eyes as he ran. Making herself comfortable on her branch, Tatl watched the two scrubs run around the clearing, laughter filling the air.

"One last race...? Yes...I'd like that..."

Right now, Tatl was glad Link was stubborn.
