“You blasted little monster! Get back here with that!”

It wasn’t the first time Hairless had been yelled at, and it wouldn’t be her last – but it didn’t matter. She had acquired her prize, held firm between her teeth, and was long gone beneath the garden fence of her latest victim; an older woman who had likely created this loot with her own frail hands. Sure, Hairless felt a little guilty… but who could resist such a soft, warm, cozy new sweater?

It had started with just one – a brand new blue sweater, made of soft fleece with a large turtleneck to cover her ears, graciously given to her on her first day in her new home. But what was meant to be a thoughtful gift quickly sparked a fascination - no, an addiction in Hairless. Soon, she learned just what all a sweater could be! Baggy ones, fitted ones, soft ones, scratchy ones, turtle necks, scoop necks, chunky knits, cashmere, angora… the possibilities were endless.

Begging only went so far, though. She could perhaps encourage her owner to graciously purchase a new sweater maybe once a month, but that only grazed the surface of her needs! She needed more! Surely, she couldn’t purchase her own, nor could she knit, and her owner… well, while they tried, knitting a sweater wasn’t exactly a quick project. So Hairless did only what a crafty little Feli had to do to get her fix…

Her owner didn’t notice her growing collection, at first. It was only when her new hobby began to become more frequent that her sweater collection began to grow at an alarming rate. What started as one or two sweaters a week soon turned to one or two a day, with Hairless scampering from neighborhood to neighborhood to shop as many clotheslines as she could!

By the time Hairless’ owner caught onto what was happening, it was too late – the klepto kitty had amassed an impressive hoard of sweaters, with no clue as to whom each one may have once belonged to. It seemed Hairless would not be stopped…

… at least, until summer rolled around.
