The first sensation Vai feels after being reborn is that of hunger, gnawing ever-present at his insides. The second he registers is that something -- someone -- is shaking him and saying, hey, hey! Are you alright? The panicked voice is annoyingly grating on his sensitive ears and, unthinkingly, he reaches out and tries to crush the source. It is...surprisingly squishy, more so than he’d expected.

Fascinated, he presses down harder and harder, until the light in the man’s eyes dims and grows cold. His stomach gurgles, and he is immediately reminded of his ravenous appetite. He had experienced that particular thirst before, but never to this extent. He has barely a moment to wonder what is going on, before his fingers are pressing into the fresh corpse's eyes and tearing them out to scarf them down his gullet.
