A guardian of the forest, Ailsa is a symbol of rebirth, representing the cycle of growth each spring. She faithfully watches over the green woodlands and protects all signs of life. She represents spirits of trees, plants and foliage. She is to be recognized as the emblem of the life that is found in the natural plant world, and in the earth itself.
With each step she takes, a new path of flowers and grass form. Ailsa was blessed with the ability to maintain and regrow greenery life.

Ailsa remains dormant from the Fall Equinox to the Winter Solstice, and arises in the Spring Equinox to the Summer Solstice to give life to the forest once more.
Ailsa is based of the 'Green Man' from many different cultures that symbolizes the rebirth of life after the winter.

“As a fertility god, the Green Man expresses an ancient spiritual view of our relationship with nature, a oneness with the earth, a belief that within the wooded groves and fields live humanlike presences that are in fact divine. A corollary to the belief is that we, like the natural world we live in, follow nature’s same cyclic patterns of birth, growth, maturity, decay, and death, followed by rebirth.” -Tom Cowan

April clad in crystal raindrops
Danced across the sunny skies,
Found Earth’s children still lay sleeping,
Yearned once more to see their eyes.
So she pelted them with raindrops,
Sprinkled them with soft warm showers,
Till the pattering of her crystals
Waked the sleepy, smiling flowers.
—‘A Year With the Fairies’ by Anna M. Scott

~Sonnet of Summer~

~~Come, sweet scent of summer love
And fill me to the brim with warmth
Strip away my melancholy
As the earth is now reborn

~~Chase away my emptiness
Of winter blues and autumn greys
Send your chorus through the meadows
Saturate my hollow days

~~With thy emerald pearls of wisdom
Whisper to the earth your songs
Banish every ounce of darkness
Grow my days from short to long

~~Clouds so white they look like feathers
Fields so green they mesmerise
As the child of Imbolc wanders
Beltane’s king and queen arrive

~~Set alight the fires of May Day
Bang the drums and fill the skies
Drench the year with celebration
Let no tears adorn thine eyes

~~Strip our souls of painful sorrows
Fill our hearts with happiness
As the earth is full of living
Make this year our very best
