The voice was soft, but husky. A mans voice. "I can hold out." replied a much younger sounding voice. the words were almost taken away by the strong wind and snow.
This was every night in the camp. There were very few left. Solders. All worn from endless war on the other tribes for land that was always in unfavorable conditions.
Soilders-
Garelle- early thirties. bright blue eyes, that have since dulled since he started this position. He grew up in this village that he is protecting, code name Utopia. In all senses compared to the rest of the known world, this is a utopia. the village is kept alive by a geothermal vent that heats the surrounding area. Geysers surround the area as well. Utopia is about 30 square miles, and includes a small water system other than the geysers, a small forest, farm land and a small village of about 1100 people. food can be grown here. He had two brothers and one sister. His Father was a soldier, just like his brothers became, and his mother and sister helped with the ecosystem. The soldier program, designed to make every boy into a soldier to protect the village from raiders, thief's, and the unknown. All that is outside Utopia, except for other areas with vents in them, is a barren snowy wasteland. Recently there has been news that other vents have been going cold, and leaving many to die a slow, cold death. Anyone who couldn't get a heavy snow suit and food died out, and those who could either became refugees or raiders. The unknown is just what it sounds like. not that they do not know what they look like but the people have no idea what they are. they are a tall, slim race, with the body LIKE a centaur, except that of many other kinds of animals. their top half's are very slim, with white tough skin and horns and spikes.
