Alexandria Mandica Christison (Shepherd) was a doctor at County General and now works for Seattle Grace Hospital. She is 45 years old and works in the Seattle Grace emergency department. She has golden blonde hair and grey eyes. Alexandria is hard working but has thrown parties when management was away.
She says she is brave and not scared of anyone or anything. That is until her ex boyfriend Mason comes into the ER of County General and she freezes up when she sees him. Luka takes the case instead with Carter and Mark Greene calms her down. He came back after being in witness protection and recovered from a brain tumor which he said wasn't cureable to protect himself from an angry father of a patient that he lost.
He realizes just how much she means to her and they became a couple after he was attacked and she protected him. He calls her Lexi and is the only one that she lets call her that. Alexandria gets on with everyone but is unsure about Elizabeth, knowing that she was married to Mark once.
Alexandria has a habit of letting paperwork pile up until Waver gets pissed off about it and she has locked horns with Waver on several occasions. She is not a big fan of authority and likes to dance to her own beat. Mark has had to tone her attitude down towards other authority, a couple of times. But his love for her makes it hard for him to stay angry with her.
Usually he has to just put a hand on her shoulder which tells her that she is getting out of line and she will turn and cuddled into him. She can get clingy especially if she getting tired or is sick. She is very bad patient and will keep working ignoring that she is indeed sick. Usually Luka and Carter will notice, and alert Mark to the fact.
Once she has realized what the boys have done, she will fuss over the fact she has work done until Mark forces her to his office where he can make sure that she is resting. She likes control and on occasions has had panic attacks when things have become too chaotic.
She knows when they are coming and tries to hid the fact, that is until Mark helps her understood that there is no need and she can come to him anytime. She tells him that she will come to him, if he comes to her.
He shows her that he is willing to do this when he comes to her after Waver took a patient off him after he wants to intubate to save her despite a DNR order after she begs him not to let her die.
He is so upset that he just hugs her and hold her till his calm. They are viewed as inseparable, taking the same patients. When Mark gets kidnapped for four years, being away from him stresses out Alexandria and she refuses to give up until he is found.
But she gets scared because she fears that after four years, things might have changed. This leads to her snapping at authority and overworking. Mark comes back after a few weeks and notices her change in attitude. He walks up to her and kisses her in the whole of the ER which reassures her fears.
And he protects her when there is a shooter in the ER, during the time, they hid in his office and he purposes to her which she happily says yes to.
A few years later, they have daughter Stella.
However after the birth of Stella, Mark turned distance and made out to the rest of County General's ER that she was a villain, he also asks her for a divorce and she loses a hell lot of friends and is made to feel unwanted at County General. That he never wanted Stella in the first place. Around this time, Alexandria is offered her job at Seattle Grace which she accepts.
She tells Lucy and Carter who are the only two still friendly that she loves Mark but she won't stay where she is not wanted. They watch her drive away with Stella in the backseat, in her car seat.
After a few months, Mark comes to beg her to come back, but she tells him that no matter how much she loves him, she can't forgive him. That her home is now in Seattle and that he has hurt her too much to repair it. She asks him to leave when he gets violent with her, this is the first time Derek steps in and protects her.
She is single for her first two years at Seattle but with some help of Stella and Meredith and a shooter, she gets together with Derek. She helps him through the shooting and having his hand smashed in an air-plane crash.
After the air-plane crashing, he purposes to her and she is hesitated at first but he promises that he will never hurt her like she has been hurt. She say yes and Meredith and Isobel are the bridesmaids, Mark Sloan as his best mate. Her father who is in the air-force, walks her down the aisle.
He tells Derek if he hurts her, that there is a lot of weapons in the air force! Derek shows her just how much she means to him when he says that he wants to adopt Stella as his own. This just shows that he indeed does love, and he is willing to accept Stella as his own.
