The sea was awfully lonely, with nothing to listen to but the waves crashing in on the rocks in the distance. The sky faded into the darkness of the ocean as the moon rose up over it, shining bright and making the water glisten. She smiled slyly and began to hum a melodic tune, preparing herself for another night alone. She often fantasized about finding a treasure, be it a letter in a bottle or a chest on a sunken ship - she imagined the excitement that would overcome her. She stroked her hair back and dived under the water. Her eyes took some time to adjust, and she hurried down to the bottom in hopes of finding something - anything - to spark her interest. She swam peacefully, lost in the harmony of her song, when a noise peaked her interest. It was a familiar sound, a boat was cutting its way through her ocean. Determined, she began plotting while she swam back up to the surface, hoping that maybe she would finally hit another jackpot. It had been many moons since the last, but she grew tired of the treasures she had obtained. As she got closer, she kept just her eyes above the water and watched for a sign of the crew. Just one man was all she needed, she knew they'd be at her command as soon as she started singing. She spotted a scrawny bearded man on the deck and swam over closer. She started with a whisper, gradually increasing her tone as she watched his eyes gloss over. He was mesmerized, frantically searching for the source of the tune. She smiled, flashing her pearlescent white teeth at him, her full lips glistening, her long black hair covering one of her striking blue eyes. She had him hooked, and her song became a demand, telling him to show her the way to the treasures. In his trance, he led her to there - and she hypnotized any other crew along the way. A large wooden chest with a large lock was teasing her, and her mind was racing thinking of all the possibilities of what would be in there. Would it be jewels? Perhaps gold? She could barely contain her excitement. He jammed the key into the lock and lifted the top, unveiling a trove of golden coins and jewelry. She shoved fistfuls into her mesh bag before being startled by a loud noise - a shot gun fired off into the night sky, and she panicked. She frantically jumped back into the water, securing her stash, and swam quickly away from the ship. By morning, when she returned home, she emptied her sack to gaze at the shining treasures, holding the jewels up to the sunlight to watch them glitter. Her need was met, for now - until she grew bored of these as well.
