Listening - Little Bird by Imogen Heap

The nest, as far as nests went, was an unassuming thing. It was a good size, about 12 cm in diameter, woven together with grass and twigs, and held together with mud.

This, however, was the extent of similarities between this nest and the rest (unless, perhaps, it was a crow's). Instead of being lined with soft, grass and fragile eggs, the inside was filled with small trinkets.

It was an odd assortment of objects, ranging anywhere from bits of broken glass worn smooth, and sequined scraps of cloth. Hardly a trove of treasure, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder -- if held up to the light, they all glittered marvelously.

The only exception was a tiny, cracked porcelain robin, whose glaze had been so thoroughly rubbed off, not the barest shine was left.
