Righteous hero who has trouble making friends and has a penchant for pulling all of them into skirmishes against "~evil~". She wins the affections of a sword spirit who's kind of not really her trusty sidekick.

She is the eldest daughter of an Earl and was raised as a man and trained in martial arts. For all intents and purposes of the family, she is a boy and would have inherited the position of head of the family, married women and held concubines (tho her brothers would probably make her wives pregnant... gross rite), etc. After fighting on the frontlines with her father's personal troops in the southern border of the kingdom (mostly defending rich farmlands against bandits), she came home from guerilla warfare pretty jaded. She discovered her father's corruption in meddling in political affairs handed him off to the local king, her uncle, and has forsaken all titles because she's tired of the patriarchy basically. She prefers for strangers to refer to her as a man although she doesn't identify as one, and tbh she's pretty androgynous and can hold her liquor so... it helps. She dislikes getting dolled up, partially because she's not used to it, but mostly because she hates how everyone treats her differently when she looks more effeminate.

qing. very strong sense of righteousness sometimes to the point of unbearable. really sensitive to wrongdoing but is usually tactful or regretful about intervening in bad situations. hates it but often has to make tough decisions but isnt afraid to execute [not to say doesnt dwell on them]. Fierce and most loyal to her personal convictions. learned to be lone wolfy, has a hard time trusting others. turns cheek narrows eyes

dao. frivolous but very keen to try everything for qings favor. relatively lazy. passionate, and admires a similar fire in qing. probably the most op party member but shes really ancient and jaded inside. appears to do things without rhyme or reason, but often people also forget she isnt human or even mortal.

zhuang. brute, quite gullible and pretty much a dull knife. however he is quite a gentle soul and is good with young children and mute animals. loud brash relatively simple but almost always well intended. has a tendency to get irrationally angry tho. main reason for high cultivation level tho is bc his dying master transferred all to him. hes not completely stupid tho - it takes him time but some very clever obstacles can be figured out with somewhat obvious deductions.

wei. smug haughty /jun/ [gentleman, civilman] laid back, somewhat of a showoff. has made a name for himself among the rivers and lakes society. his demeanor however changes drastically if his past and long estranged family are involved. weapon of choice is the tongue and his bamboo flute, unlike most xia who have sword mastery. affinity for birds and flying spirits
