Delfina grew up watching others create art.
She watched her father spend the weekend painting the view from the kitchen window and her mother sketch the wildlife down by the river.
She watched her elder sister create stunning visual art that came to life by magic and her littlest brother rub sticks of charcoal over page upon page that somehow always ended up looking like masterpieces.
She watched two close friends at school design and sew their own clothing from nothing but fabric and thread and her best friend grow up to be a frankly inspirational tattoo artist.

Delfina, though? Did she have any talent?
Delfina's childhood was riddled with after-school art projects including the obligatory 'paint with your paws' and 'trace your paw print' sessions and even painting by numbers. She scribbled all over her parents' bank statements before she knew any better and somehow splattered paint across her elder sister's laptop as a young teenager (much to everyone's dismay).

The one medium Delfina did learn to understand over the years was ink.
Beautiful, bold ink, from glorious black to any number of bright, vibrant colours.
Ink.
But did she use it to create art? No. Delfina had long given up on her creative dreams.

Delfina used ink to form words. She began by penning small pieces for her university newspaper, moved on to proofing segments for fellow writers and soon became editor of a leading magazine. She wrote in bold cursive strokes in every colour under the sun.

But one art-related joy remained - Delfina stockpiled all the art supplies she could lay her hands on in the hope that she would someday burst with inspiration and follow in her friends' and family's footsteps.
And of course, she treasured each and every piece of art anyone had ever given her.
