Tibbald is a character from Mush u Gurba by Ubayd Zakani, a book of animal stories from 18th century Persia.This was believed to be the origin of the infamous war between cat and mouse.

Tibbald was the mighty ruler of the feline world. He and his kind had found that a common, and particularly small rodent, makes for a splendid servant. Mice were culled from nearby areas and committed to a life of servitude to their new-found feline rulers. Mice were employed to clean, entertain, cook, and on occasion serve as a meal themselves.

Persecuted for millenia the mice decided to gather their finest of trades and bring to Tibbald as an offering of peace. The mice sent their most prominent of citizens and ambassadors to greet Tibbald with their "olive branch". Tibbald was very displeased by the mere thought of living as equals with the mice and sent the ambassadors back to their brethren. Sadly, only the heads made the long journey back home.

This was the final straw for the mice! They gathered a militia and began to train. They gathered horses and elephants to ride into battle. The mouse army set forth upon Tibbald's palace. After much blood shed the mice emerged victorious... and with the head of our dear Tibbald.

The war between cat and mouse still rages on...the slaying of Tibbald prolonged the anger of the cats, to this day each species struggles for hierarchy against the other!
