Background

There once was a land with a god and his son. The land was divided in 7 parts, each taken by a tribe. Of these, five tribes were farmers, while two tribes remained nomads. Even the nomads had to stay within their own territory, and as such, it became harder to be nomads, as the other tribes did not desire the things the nomads brought to trade.
Ruling over this great land was not a king, but a god; Lodur. The land was his playground, and the humans inhabiting it his dolls. He had only one son, Kaelan. He and his son would show themselves to the tribes and give them various tasks; it could be breeding a good cow, catching a specific breed of fish or even a human sacrifice. If they succeeded, they would be granted a present of a sort - and the god would benefit from this, gaining more power.
Lodur always had the most power of the two, and as such he felt most sure in his own form - his son would often accept help from one of his two spirit animals and lend their power or shape.

Phaye

Phaye was a member of one of the nomad tribes. As the years went by, the gifts from the gods were no longer enough to keep the tribe well-fed, and the matriarch finally decided to settle down next to a lake and start fishing. This decision was met with happiness and relief, as it meant they would no longer have to travel the entire territory, hoping that next year the animals would breed more offspring. They got settled and started building the first house they tribe had ever lived in - a big wooden structure.
When the house was almost done, Phaye one day went bathing in the lake and located a huge, unpolished amethyst rock. She brought it with her and placed it inside her bag, even if she did not understand why.
The next evening, Kaelan appeared before the house. He was clad all in black and accompanied by mist - and soon the moon was covered in a heavy dose of clouds. Around Kaelan came several figures crawling out of the darkness. They were fast and dangerous, and Kaelan informed the clan of these creatures called vampires; as he had informed the other clans. With a malicious smile he also let it be known that if you joined these beings of the dark, you could live alongside the young god and be immortal.
Phaye did not think more of this, until the matriarch called the tribe together for a meeting a scant sevendays later. With a deep, fake sigh she informed that the lake could not sustain all the 9 members of the tribe - 2 would have to leave. She had taken a tough decision and picked Phaye and a young man for those unlucky ones to leave. Phaye did not even bother to ask about the coincidence that the matriarch's family were the people to stay in the tribe.
As Phaye took her bag, she went quickly to another tribe's land and entered their house. A balcony on a balcony on one of the tribes' houses was the only place to contact the two gods. She reached it the next night. As she called for the young Kaelan, she asked to be one of the vampires - she wanted to live at his side. He laughed. No vampire would ever live by his side - it had only been a temptation for the weak. With the sting of angry tears in her eyes, she asked him why he had then let her find the amethyst? If he was a god, he would know that she would soon be forced to leave her tribe, and he had then given her hope for nothing. The god looked at the young girl for a long time, then he reached out and grabbed her hand.

Phaye awoke again as a goddess. She was in a big, wooden structure - a type of building that even the gods seemed to favour for home. As she went downstairs, she saw Kaelan and Lodur having an argument. Lodur disliked the way the tribes were starting to prefer Kaelan, and he wanted to kill him. Even with Phaye's desperate intervention, Lodur managed to kill Kaelan. Distressed, Phaye called upon a spirit animal that once belonged to Kaelan and lent her form to flee. The form was a Pegasus.
