Mistralaz, when is Kamalei coming home?" Channaa asked her big brother. Mistralaz looked down at his little sister sadly, and took a deep breath before carefully answering, "Channaa, we've talked about this. Kamalei loves you very much, but she wanted to leave for a while. She needs to be alone - she has things she has to learn by herself, and it might take a while. You have to be strong to help her by being good here, okay?" Channaa sighed. "Yes, Mistralaz. I understand," she answered, but in truth, she wasn't sure she did. She never liked being alone. Her favorite times were when she was surrounded by people, and she couldn't understand why her big sister would choose to be by herself. All she could wrap her head around was the fact that she wasn't there, with Channaa, where she should be. Channaa was normally very outgoing and friendly. She had exactly the kind of personality that people were drawn to, because she was usually so sunny and happy. Channaa saw the good in everyone and believed anything people told her - but that trusting nature had gotten her into trouble more than once. Oddly enough, it was her desire to help was sometimes the thing that made trouble for her! There was that time, for instance, when she brought home an injured magpie. After nursing it back to health, the bird with the love of shiny objects had found the Treasure Chest of Channaa's sister Yuanzhi, and took off with a few valuable items! Yuanzhi was upset, but it was hard to stay mad at Channaa, because Channaa only ever tried to make others happy, and in turn, Channaa was happy herself. But, today, after that conversation with Mistralaz, she was feeling unusually sad and quiet. To clear her head, she decided to go take a walk. She walked over to one of her favorite spots in the Glade, with a large grove of wildflowers growing to the side of a well-worn pathway. It always made her feel better to grab some things to add to her Treasure Chest full of cute things, and freshly picked flowers were some of her favorites. After picking baskets full of flowers, she was feeling good again. She was able to imagine happy times in the future, when her sister might come home.Story by
