Name Meaning: Mafdet, she who runs swiftly, was an early deification of legal justice in the form of executions and was believed to make rulings at judgment hall in the Underworld (Duat) where enemies of the pharaoh were decapitated with the claw of Mafdet. She was depicted in a variety of cat forms including a cheetah, a lynx, a panther or a leopard.
Specially chosen from the Desert by a noble Pharaoh himself, Madfet was given the task to protect the Pharaoh. Her keen eyesight and quick agile movements were remarkable among other Jaguars. Her stealth put ease on the Pharaoh, at least for the time being. Mafdet, being one of his most trusted subjects, took great pride and honor in protecting the King and his empire. Her loyalty was unquestionable.

(Mafdet)

The cool winds touched the hem of Mafdet's silk garment and the sweat bristled off her forehead. Her black-bob wig made her head itch, but for religion purposes, she had to keep it on during the daylight. She jumped on the marbled ledge of the thrown room that overlooked the entire city below.

New Egypt was surrounded by three thick walls of thirty, forty, and fifty feet in height to shield itself from the desert. Each wall was respectively engraved with colorful hieroglyphics that the elves mocked from Old Egypt religions, bringing in Isilme'aure. The paintings danced with visions of Morarda and Eruanar and Eruithil. Black figures were designed to be the most beautiful version of an elf could be, with white figures representing the Holy Children of Eruithil.

The buildings in New Egypt were mostly white with very colorful engravings. The large door opening to the city included a bronze arch fashioned in the likeness of two snakes mating, their scales are delicate flakes of jade, obsidian, and lapis lazuli. Slim towers stand tall, and elaborate fountains fill every square, wrought in the shapes of griffins and dragons and various insects. Dome-shaped tops of buildings were accompanied by pillars on each side. The balconies of the white houses are delicate and frail, filled with gold rimming and gemstones. A cavernous building in the center is home to a bazaar. The wide cobbled roads that intertwined the buildings were bustled with vegetation and shops. Travels and merchants road on camels and horseback through the streets. A thousand gaily colored birds live on the latticework ceiling. On the terraced walls above stalls, palm trees, and flowers bloom. New Egypt possesses one of the greatest ports in the world. It is a sheltered harbor full of colors, with large stone quays reserved for the ships of the various trade guilds through Common Lake.

The thrown room was even more beautifully decorated with large pillars over 50 feet high and open windows that matched the height. Different tapestries hung around the pillars and were thrown on the stone floor that was carefully painted with a large map of Adrawinya. The balcony Mafdet hung over overlooked the desert region, and to the right across the room, the windows displayed the port region of New Egypt.

Mafdet closed her ice eyes and imagined herself falling, a sensation to escape the fate of being alive. Her hands tingled as the feeling and she shocked herself to look once more at the world. She crouched her leg into her chest as the other one dangled over 1000 feet below. She remembered a passage from an old scripture that rang inside her head,

Sleep is good,
death is better; but of course,
the best thing would to have never been born at all.

A warm hand placed itself on her shoulder, and she was almost startled by its presence. She placed her own on top of it, and nuzzled it with her cheek. The figure moved directly behind her and hugged her. The figure began to kiss her cheek as both of them overlooked the city.

"What are you doing here?" chimed in the voice

"Oh, you know, just wanting to die," Mafdet replied sarcastically with a hint of honesty.

The warmth of the body withdrew itself and slapped Mafdet on the cheek, "Stop saying those sort of things, you know I hate it!"

"Hey!" the sting of the slap made her turn around too quickly, "I was only joking!" she placed her hand on her cheek to rid of the feeling.

Zyphire stood leaning against the arched doorway leading to the balcony, and Mafdet could no longer stay mad at such a beautiful sight. The bugs whistled in the heat as the sun overlaid midday. Zyphire's curly golden locks ran down her white silk dress that displayed her thin body. Her blue eyes matched Zyphire's as she began to curly her soft pink lips. Her arms were decorated with golden bangles that jingled as she began to walk toward Mafdet. She cupped her face and kissed her,

"I know you, I know you're not joking." xv"I know."

"Just talk to me, I'm here for you." she placed her forehead on Mafdet's. The two basked in the silence. It was a gift for them to be alone longer than a couple of minutes. Zyphire was the Philosopher Queen within New Egypt and had many obligations to oblige to every second. Mafdet held onto this feeling for a while longer. She gave in, wrapped her arms around Zyphire's thin frame, and scooted off the balcony to become closer. The two kissed firmly and smiled at their soft love.

Mafdet let go of her partner and walked back into the throne room as Zyphire followed behind her. The musty desert breeze dusted through the stoned room. Zyphire lunged herself to one of the eight large pillars and rested on it. Her soft blue eyes looked at Mafdet,

"I'm tired of all this life," she said tossing her thick blonde curls around and lifting her weight off the stone dramatically as she sighed. Her bare feet tapped the marble until they landed on the red tapestry that lead to the thrown overlooking the room.

Mafdet now lounged on the marble throne that was decorated interictally with gold, silver, and lapis lazuli. She threw her wig off in grief and rubbed her eyes. Her dark curly hair sprung out from the release and she shook her head for it to regain its bounce. She looked at Zyphire delicacy walking over towards her and blushed.
