Meet Thomas Gerard Kourogi, owner and operator of the Sunny-Side Apartment complex in downtown Detroit. Once a young, affluent businessman, Kourogi's life was reduced to shambles following not only Detroit's financial plight but also the death of his wife in a fire a few years ago. Mustering up his knowledge in the areas of business management, Kourogi just barely put together the Sunny-Side complex after losing income from his own company. Now, with the mass exodus of people from the crumbling city, the 50 year old does not know how long the complex will stick around. However, the building and the people it houses are all he truly has left.
