In a large forest clearing, there is a small stone tablet, almost like a grave stone, that is pulsating and glowing faintly gold. Naturally, you are curious and cautiously walk closer. As you get closer, you can feel energy flowing from the rock, into the ground, and into your body. It numbs you and thoughts buzz frantically through your head, but you continue forward and kneel in front of the tablet. There is a large golden stone in it near the top, the source of the golden light, and there are symbols carved into it neatly that you don't understand or recognize. You reach forward, fingers outstretched, and the aura about the stone tries to hold you back, but you press on and graze the stone before it shoves you back completely.

The tablet's glow grows blinding, and your hand flies up to shield your eyes. Through the gaps in your fingers, you see something in the distance, through the incredible light, but you can't make it out completely. It grows larger and larger, and there's an even brighter glint of light coming from it. Your eyes water and you can't look any longer. It doesn't help much, the inside of your eye lids are a bright red, but it helps soothe them a bit.

When you open your eyes, the light is gone. In front of the tablet now stands someone who, by the looks of him, is an anthropomorphic Montre knight of some sort. He also holds the faint golden glow. His pelt is white, his four wings a light cream color, and his markings the same piercing yellow as his eyes. He wears gold armors with intricate silver celestial designs over his chest, knees, elbows and tail, with just a light white body suit underneath.

His light covering tells you he is confident in his abilities, and must be a very powerful warrior. You realize after a few seconds, that his long, thin sword is pointed straight at your heart. Your arms fly up in surrender.

He doesn't move for what feels like an eternity, seeming merciless. You fear you've made the last mistake of your life. Then, hesitantly, he lowers his sword, looking down on your kneeling form with cold, apprehensive eyes. He's waiting for something. You shrink back even further. He digs the end of his sword into the ground and scowls.

"What is your business with the Oracle, human?" He asks, in a hard, emotionless tone, still staring down at you as if you are some sort of vermin. You anxiously shake your head and, stuttering, explain that it was merely an accident. He is not happy about this. His expression turns vicious, and he looks as if he would snap your neck then and there, but then his expression turns unreadable, and to your surprise, he sits down cross legged and stares at the ground.

"I'm sorry," he sighed, laying his heavy shield down next to him. "Ever since Maleria's rise to power, the Oracle's guard have been taking every precaution we can. It's non-stop work. We're answering her calls, protecting as she's in hiding, running her errands, passing messages between her, Shinwa, and the wizard, and...well, I never get a break."

You aren't sure what to say. You give him a sympathetic smile, but he seems to ignore you. In a solemn tone, he adds,

"But, you know, it was this job or death. And I couldn't do that to my lover. He would have been so devastated."

There is a long pause. The soldier is obviously deep in thought. He seems remorseful.

"He gave me his heart. It was the only way to save me. I just couldn't survive off of a prosthetic one. So, he has the prosthetic and I have his. I always fear that one day...his fake heart will give out and I lose him. I wouldn't be able to go on if he died instead of myself."

Suddenly, he stands up, gathering his shield and sword back up, and looks down at you once more, his eyes softer, but still a bit cold and reserved.

"I've said too much. I'm sorry, I ended up wasting your time. Next time, be more careful to not touch things you are unsure of."

And then he is gone, in a cloud of silvery smoke, and the golden glow of the tablet disappears.
