It was a cool spring morning and mist hung in the air. The sky was a brilliant pink as the sun stretched its rays to awaken the world. Dew droplets clung to each blade of grass. Moving silently through a grove of birch trees, a silky Neela glided into a meadow, her velvet nose twitching as she took in the fresh air. A light breeze, ripe with the scent of blooming flowers, danced passed, ruffling her fur. Spring time was Hiroka's favorite season, the arrival of new life, a transition from the inhospitable winter. As the Neela walked, flowers seemed to push up from the ground underneath her hooves. She pressed her face toward bare brambles at the edge of the wood, and as she exhaled, light green buds arose from the dead looking vines. Her eyes softened into a daze as she made her way across the meadow, decorating the grass with wildflowers. A butterfly landed on her ear, batting its wings lightly before taking off. Bees began to wake up and sing their songs, floating from blossom to blossom. There was a rhythm and melody to this day. The birds and insects chirping, the wind calling and the flora responding, rustling to and fro. Baby critters began to emerge from holes in the ground and holes in trees. They whined for their mothers and wobbled about with uncertainty, getting used to their newborn bodies. Hiroka was quiet, taking everything in. She felt every creature and every plant around her as if she embodied them all. All day she felt the sun’s radiant kiss until at last it was time for the world to sleep once again. As the sun set, the last of the animals ate their nighttime meal before meandering back to their various dens. Hiroka walked back into the forest and lay down on the soft dirt, surround by a ring of fairy mushrooms. Ferns sprouted up around her and covered her in mother earth’s embrace. Frogs sung her to sleep, and as her eyelids grew heavy, she heaved a sigh of pleasure at the acknowledgement that she lived in pure bliss and harmony.
