A strange mutant from the deep, I first came upon Ristas when I went fishing with my aunt and uncle. They were hauling in a boat-load of herring when my aunt called me over to the starboard. I dropped my book to peer over the sides, only to exclaim in wonder as I saw a glow shine among the fish. We brought the creature in, and found that it was a Chelon. Intelligent eyes gazed up at me, and I knew this Chelon had aspirations. It did not come to us as a coincidence, but as a learning opportunity. Ristas wanted to see the world, travel the land, and teach us humans about the sea. We made a mental agreement to band up, and I introduced Ristas to Ruwali, my Ontra. Ruwali and Ristas complemented one another. They were swimming pals and shipmates, both well versed in nautical knowledge as well as modern literature. To this day, we spend time on the beach and at sea when we are not traveling on land.
