Oh don't you feel special? Yes you have found me. Want to fight? I'll take you down before you realize you got hit. I'm the Mistress of the Night, the Dawn of the Broken Skies, and Queen of the Eternal Darkness.
Wait what? Dreams? You want my story?
Laughter is heard that reechoes in darkness.
I can't imagine why you would want that tale but here is how I met her:

"Arasin! Ambush!"
Even as I yell out, I know it's too late. We can't win. An arrow takes me out of the fight, but I can see Arasin still swinging his broadsword. It takes six of them to finally take him down, and when they're done, he's barely breathing. I'm yelling for help as they pull out, though there's no one left do help. Arasin and I are the only survivors.
As I'm blacking out, I see two figures racing towards us. One of them scoops me up and carries me off as I finally lose consciousness.

When I wake up, there are bandages over the wounds on my chest and arms. I'm lying in a bed in a fairly neat bedroom. I'm a little sore, but otherwise okay. I reach for my dagger and find it missing, along with most of my armor. The only thing I'm wearing is my undershirt.
A female centauress walks in carrying fresh bandages. I assume she's the one who rescued me.
"Hiya," she says in a friendly way, "I'm Alanna but you can call me Dream." I offer her a paw in good will, which she shakes.
"My name's Aida," I pause, not sure how to continue.
"Did you...save me?" I ask.
She nods, blushing slightly.
"Yes, you and your friend. We checked for other survivors, but..." Her voice trails off and she shakes her head sadly. I do a double-take, which hurts.
"Friend? Who?" I ask, excited to know someone else lived.
"A bloodred Montre. He's pretty beat up, but we stabilized him an hour ago." I'm somehow not surprised that Arasin survived. It would take a tank to finish off that stubborn Montre.
"Thank you." I say suddenly, and I think I'm crying. Dreams lend in and hugs me tight. I am suddenly very glad she found us and not someone else. Crying isn't something I usually do, but in light of recent events...
She blushes hard as I allow her to change my bandages. Afterwards, she allows me to help her tend to Arasin. After seeing him, I feel lucky I was only hurt. He looked like someone had tried to make Swiss cheese and succeed. Dream healed him well, though she suspects he'd never be able to use his left eye again.
A month passes, and I heal to full strength. I've learned a lot about healing from Dream, though I still prefer assassination as a career. But don't ask me to explain it myself. Dream's boyfriend, Taint as he likes to be called, sympathizes with me. He used to be an assassin, and he has taught me a thing or two.
Still, I don't prefer his company. Or his cooking for that matter. Yuck! I mean really, Spam and bacon and eggs are good, don't get me wrong, but together in the same pan?! I'll pass, thanks! But I digress.
Dream and I go to change Arasin's bandages, and we see he's awake. Taint's is in the doorway with a strange package.
"Aida?" Arasin asks, disbelieving. I nod, smiling at him.
"What happened?" He doesn't remember? Did he hit his head?!
"We were... ambushed," I manage to say, looking at the ground, "We're the only survivors... These two, Dreams and Taint, just happened to find the ambush site and saved us. Everyone else...was...already dead." Saying hurts more than I thought it would. He is speechless. Taint walks in and gives him the package. Inside are two blood halberds, from the blood of our fallen comrades.
"Thank you," he says after a moment, "All of you."
Dream's gift, a young Emaneapate, jumps up next to him.
"I thought you might like something to cheer you up," she says as the little dragon runs around in circles. It's nice to see Arasin smile again.

It takes two months for Arasin to be able to walk again. It should've taken longer, but the stubborn fool wouldn't stay in bed. Taint and Dream offer to adopt us and Arasin and I accept. I accept on one condition though: I am so staying with Dream. Arasin cooks about as well as Taint, so if I don't want to be hungry or sick every other night, it's better I don't live with them. And besides, I need girls. Hanging around with Dream is like being with a best friend. Arasin seems okay with this, though. Males!!
Dream says I need a name to register under, and it couldn't be my real name. It takes me a while to decide. I don't want to answer to something too stupid for words for the rest of my life. I knew if I took on this name I would never be able to get rid of it. I eventually decided on Broken Skies, since the sky itself, really doesn't look the same to me anymore.
Arasin now answers to Fading Dream or Fade, but not his own name. Sometimes I wonder what really goes on in that thick skull of his!
Dream is a good friend. About as stubborn as a stone but at least she can cook. She teaching me basic healing tricks and has offered to teach me to be a healer too, but I politely say no. I'd be a paradox! I mean a healing assassin? Forget it!

That's how I came to be with Dreams. We go on to have many head-buttings with everyone, she meets and keeps Much to my annoyance but otherwise I deeply care for my savior. She will always hold a special place in my crooked and broken heart.
