He uses some minor dark magic, mainly to call upon his 'guardian' and companion: a dark, ruffled, beaten up looking cat. a pretty heavy exemplar even, when fully brought into the 'real' world.
Jaret (Adept Kaemin, but hardly anyone calls him by that title) has a natural liking for little shiny objects... friends call him magpie due to that. However many of the 'trinkets' he is keeping are books and scrolls. Needing to pawn most of the worthier rest to sustain his life and work.

Temperamental...Strong-Willed...Emotional...Wild
Floating among the clouds, wispy threads of consciousness began to filter into the creature's mind. As the wind picked up, he slowly opened eyes barely yet able to see. A flash of lightning and suddenly he was aware. His wings unfurled and his tail slashed out behind him. He gave a mighty stretch and yawn as he hovered, the clouds wreathing him in ozone-scented wetness. The air crackled around him with pure energy as the rains began to fall.
He scented the air, relishing in the feel of the lashing rain as his awareness began to coalesce. This was good. But what was this? Who was he? His thoughts began to swirl. How did he get here? What was with the storm? His mind stopped as he felt the answer.
He was the storm. It was in him and around him. As this thought calmed him, he realized the rain lessened and the lightning disappeared. He thought about it and with that thought, the lightning came back and the winds whipped up again. He could control the weather. It was wonderful, the flashes of light, the slicing wind, the pounding rain. It was life and power and it was his.
Kaemin is something of a fledgling weather god. Although he can manipulate and create any weather at all, he chooses mostly to create storms. He loves the power of a full-throttle thunderstorm - the flashing lightning coming one bolt after the next, the pelting rain, the fist-sized hail. He relishes the power that comes with a mere thought. One thought can change a sunny day into a full-on white-out blizzard or a light rain into a full-force hurricane. Very rarely does he choose to create sunshine - after all, where's the fun in that?
