Birthday: September 27th (Libra)

Introduction:

Hello there, stranger. I am Yachira Kotomi, the Princess of Libra, Goddess of Time and Balance. My tale is a long one, but if you insist, I shall tell it to you, beginning even before my birth, when the great star of Ai(Love) was shattered to twelve pieces by the great Queen of Evils and Nightmare, Meneisha. I am one of the guardians who was destined to protect the shard of Ai for eternity, or until a sorceress with enough magical power to rejoin the shards is borne into the world. The "Princess of Libra" title only hides my identity, thus allowing me to further protect this shard from the clasps and clutches of the evil forces. This, my friend, is my story.

A century before I was born, my ancestors were warned with an omen from the Oracle of Darkness, and omen with a dreadful result if nothing was done to obstruct it. King after king tried to undo this omen, offering sacrifices to the gods and praying daily to the great star of Ai. Until one day, twenty years later, when the world was shaken by natural disasters, the prelude of the great disastrous era that was about to begin. The goddess who resided within the great star of Ai began to pity the weak, helpless humans, and erected a barrier around the human race. Of course, this was forbidden, as in the rulebook of the gods, any deity was not to perform any type of divine intervention, even if it meant that the survival of the human race depended on it. The Evil Queen Meneisha took this as a chance and shattered the great star of Ai, bringing an era of darkness and death. However, even though the goddess of the Ai had vanished, the barrier was still intact, much to the disappointment of Meneisha.

Many decades later, King Treypho XV had twin daughters, born on the day of a full moon, naming them Farranella and Lendonorra after the goddesses of fire and ice. Because this was considered a sign of bad luck, the twins were exiled to the Mountains of Utimorr, where they were left in the hands of the gods and goddesses. What became of them? Nobody knows. Terrible disasters occurred after the birth of the twins, and therefore everyone in the kingdom blamed the royal family and set fire to the palace, killing the King, Queen, and anyone related to the Royal House. Many ages of tyranny followed, often then followed by ages of civil war and bloodshed. Finally, the goddess of Ai placed the twelve shards of the great star of Ai into the hands of twelve fated children, one of them being me, Yachira Kotomi. My mother always told me that I had a gift of balance and great sense of time. At that time, I had no idea what she meant, and what she was trying to tell me. I never understood until I received the Libra Shard from the great star of Ai. I soon realized that it was some sort of a cursed item, and decided to throw it into a river. (There are plenty of rivers in Venice, and I lived right on top of one) However then, a voice spoke to me, a voice that only I could hear. A voice so small that it was barely heard.

"Help me! Please, SAVE ME!"

When I heard these words my heart jolted. Was I hallucinating? Was I imagining that these words were coming through my mind? Then again those words came to me. Save me! Without second thought, I plunged into the cold, dark river and fished out the shard. Then, the voice came again to me. Thank you. I couldn't understand what was going on, so I quickly ran back home to change out of my soggy dress, lest I catch a cold. Just when I jumped out of the river, a ice-cold grip clasped onto my ankle and dragged me back into the water. An ominous voice hammered my head. Give me the shard. Give me the shard and you shall live. Well, I thought, hell no was I going to drop this pretty shard that might be something important. I fought back against the dark thoughts, but eventually, it overcame me and I went unconscious, falling into the deep dark depths of the river. I knew nothing of what happened afterwards.

When I woke up, I was back on dry land. Next to me sat a little girl who I guessed was no more than just five years old. When I asked her what she was doing here, she simply smiled at me and telepathically told me, I am Moonlight. I am the spirit of the Libra Shard. Please take care of me. Then, the girl smiled the most innocent smile I have ever seen on the face of the lands. Perhaps this was a dream? This is not a dream, Yachira. I looked up at the smiling girl again, and decided that perhaps there was indeed magic in this cursed world. As the rosy fingers of dawn began to touch the horizon, I hurried home to my mother. NO! You mustn't go there! That was when I saw a great flame rise from where I had lived. The people who passed by claimed that the house had been struck by the gods, attacked by furies and demons. I could not believe what I could see, as nothing as tragic had ever happened in my life before.

...to be continued.
