Shiver has always been a quiet person. He does not do well in strange, unfamiliar situations, and tries his hardest to isolate himself from everyone except his close family and friends. He has never felt the need to say much to anyone, partly for the fear they won't care, and partly for the fact that he doesn't himself. He is terribly under confident and, though appears rough and uncaring on the outside, is actually sensitive and shy. He has his feelings hurt very easily. He tends to pick his battles- which are few and far between, he'd rather not create a fuss- carefully, though, when his line is crossed, his vehement emotions can surprise.

He is, to people he is close to, often a shoulder to cry on. He always listens and never talks, much preferring to listen and to be listened to. He has an easy time letting rude comments slide, if he so desires, but is usually hurt on the inside.

History

Shiver cannot recall too much his past, though he knew he grew up in the care of his grandparents. "Your mother and father are important," they would tell him, "They have no time to visit you." And they never did.
Shiver thinks they're dead, and it really doesn't matter to him. What kind of parents don't want to visit their own children?

That one? That's Shiverheart. Her first name is Maeda, but it never took-- she has such a fascinating last name that the others seemed to have neglected the fact that it's not what she calls herself. Still, that might be partly due to her attitude as well. Maeda definitely acts the role of a "Shiverheart", at least I think so. She's older, unmarried, childless... she won't tell me or the tenants anything about her past, but I suspect she might have lost some family through the years. Here, that's not such a rare occurrence.

From the brief intercourses I've had with her, I know she is a native Alabaman, and also that she works at a factory close to the heart of the city. She's not old enough to retire yet, unfortunately. I can tell she really needs the break.
