Remy grew up in a rural town in Arizona, about an hour`s drive outside of Phoenix. His mother, originally from Texas, was a waitress in a highway diner, somehow scraping enough to feed him and his brother Johnny, two years his senior. The boys were quite close and spent their days exploring the local scrapyard together, finding machine parts to sell for pocket money. Even as a child, he was rather serious and more levelheaded than his brother, refusing to believe the urban legends about The City, a sprawling metropolis far to the North. He was deeply rooted in reality, often being the one to force his brother out of his detached escapism. Remy was often teased at school, but there were only a handful instances that escalated to physical fights. For the most part, he avoided his classmates, or other kids in the neighborhood. Some time after he turned 7, his younger sister Samantha was born. Like her brothers, she never knew who her father was, or even if they were indeed fully related.
Remy`s mother died when he was 10. Having no other relatives, he children went to live with a man they were told was their uncle, a middle-aged researcher in some obscure field of academia. He provided them with necessities but didn`t take an active role in their life, preferring to lock himself away in his study. They lived there for two years, during which Johnny started drifting away from Remy and becoming much closer to their sister than he was before. Remy would find him skipping classes to go watch Samantha play during recess. With his siblings spending the majority of their time apart from him, he took to tinkering with the parts from the junkyard and whatever he could find around his uncle`s house, eventually teaching himself programming and basic networking.
Six months after Remy turned 12, Johnny and Samantha disappeared without a trace. They left no note, no warning, no destination. He simply woke up one morning to find them gone, their things missing. Police were much too busy dealing with criminals fleeing The City south to the Mexican border, and two runaways were the least of their problems.Feeling that there was nothing left for him in his hometown, Remy could think of nothing else to do but run north to The City. Soon after arriving, he was found by Vic Emerson; who, much to Remy`s dismay was nice enough to shelter him until he made some money to start out with. Six months later, Remy found a place of his own, a storage unit on west side. It wasn`t anything, but it was home. At least it was, until a certain one-armed kid played a key role in blowing it up.
Personality: Remy strives to be as self-sufficient and independent as he can, in an attempt to remove himself from the trauma of being abandoned by his siblings and his mother. He often comes off as brash and bossy, preferring to work alone. He won`t ask for help unless he has no other choice, and generally has a stubborn personality; he may come up with a brilliant solution to a problem but absolutely refuse to compromise as to it`s application. Although his childhood experiences have given him enough skills to survive in The City, he may still act immature if someone tries to find out about his past. He`s blunt and has a short fuse, having little patience for people.
Underneath his seemingly self-serving, misanthropic manner, Remy longs for lasting, real relationships to fill the void left by his family`s perceived abandonment.
