The youngest of the gems, Phosphophyllite's eagerness to fight the moon people is matched only by their all-encompassing clumsiness. As the most brittle gem, breaking at least once a day, they haven't been able to hold a single job, much less a sword. At wit's end, Master Adamant finally assigns Phos to work on a natural history encyclopedia. Phos, naturally, writes the whole thing off as busy work. Besides, they don't even know what a natural history encyclopedia is! What's that? Recording things in nature? But there isn't anything new to record!

Then they get directed to Cinnabar, the one sibling who keeps away from all others. Because of their toxic body, Cinnabar spends their days hidden away and their nights patrolling the far beaches in the hopes that they'll be taken by the moon people and find some use there. Phos decides, then and there, to find a different job for Cinnabar to do. Unfortunately, as someone who can't even accomplish their own job, Phos sure has a long way to go.
