from a future where those deemed unimportant/useless are often made of use, mostly in the form of medical research. ariel was born to a family of scientists and doctors; he ran away early on to live with his not-so-successful uncle out of fear he would be made to pursue the family profession, not wanting to possibly harm some even if it meant helping more. while living here, he met railroad, who was dangerously feral and aggressive. still believing he could help people, though at a much smaller scale, he lent railroad necessities and relentlessly visit him every day. the two actually became very good friends, ariel even giving railroad the name he would end up using for the rest of his life. eventually they were living together, and did just about everything else together, as well. it seemed nothing could separate them, up until ariel is hit by a train. unfortunately, he didn't die and ends up back in medical hell.
