Humble beginnings;

There's two things I'm not scared of: eating and sleeping.

Cringer is the talking, pet tiger of Prince Adam of Eternia. It's a bit unclear if all tigers in Eternia talk or only Cringer (To be fair, a lot of things were unclear in the 1980's). He was rescued by Prince Adam from a hungry sabrecat. Afterwards, Prince Adam took his new little buddy back to the palace, a much comfier environment then the jungle, I'm sure. Plus it would have been a sad end to the baby Cringer, a cat who loves to eat, to be a mere appetizer.

Understandably, the kitten was scared very easily. Teela and others teased Prince Adam calling the kitten a cringer. Adam defended his pet, but alas, the name stuck. Poor Adam, he was so embarrassed. It's hard being a prince. However, the Sorceress appeared and told Adam that Cringer might bring him embarrassment now, but in the future he would be useful. Bababaaaammmmm....

Eventually Prince Adam was given the power to become He-Man. A power he hid from his hungry friend. However, when an archaeological dig was attacked by a recently released monster, Adam transformed into He-Man without knowing Cringer was watching. After spotting him, He-Man tried to reassure his pet that he was really Adam, but after pointing the Sword of Power towards Cringer it let out the usual energy beam, transforming Cringer into Battle Cat for the first time. He-Man was shocked to see the change in the usually timid cat, but remembered the Sorceress' words from when he was a child and he received another message, telling him Battle Cat was now his partner. Using Battle Cat, he was able to confine the beast and save the endangered team.

GreySkull;

I'm sorry you live in such a creepy place, Sorceress.

Cringer as his name implies, is meant to be seen as a 'fraidy-cat. He loves to eat, sleep, and complain. He'd be content never having to transform into BattleCat or letting someone else charge in and save the day. However, he has shown remarkable bravery when having to defend his friend Prince Adam or He-man. Cringer doesn't seem to enjoy becoming his alter-ego, BattleCat, unlike Prince Adam. However, he goes through the process time after time, to help protect his best friend, Prince Adam. That's a type of bravery in itself. It also shows there is more to Cringer then he'd like to let on.

BattleCat is more of a hot-head and very reckless; however, it seems Cringer's memories/feelings does influence BattleCat and vica versa. In one episode, a guest star ate Cringer's food, and BattleCat was very angry at the guest star. It's an interesting plot device to consider. While BattleCat and Cringer have two very distinct personalties, how much does Cringer's emotions effect BattleCat's and vice versa.

Friends;

But we saved the day yesterday, and the day before yesterday. Every day, we save the day!
