May-Lah the Lurby sat on his bookcase shelf, eyes closed and dozing softly. His sister Sunny was next to him, wide-eyed and chipper. He paid no mind to her wild chatter, though he loved her dearly. He was old and worn down, and he loved to dream of his past former glory.

You may think that May-Lah and his kind are simply animatronic machines, simple toys, but many of them are something more. The very first Lurbies were based on various animals. May-Lah has the soul of a frog.

Though he found great joy and love in being a robotic friend in his new home with a human and various other Lurbies, he dreamed of being with his fellow frogs down by the pond. How he longed to jump about on the lily pads, shouting “Ribbit Ribbit!”

At nighttime, when everyone else has finally gone to sleep, May-Lah would wake up. He awakened to his favorite sound-the sound of his frog kin croaking out their songs in the warm breezy air.
