gimme, gimme symphonies;;
gimme more than the life I see

"... That was Claude Debussy's Arabesque II. Next up, we've got a lovely piece by Mozart, Piano Concertro number 21, performed by the Veta Lake Orchestra. After that we've got a short but rousing number, Lake in the Moonlight by Tchaikovsky, performed by the Centropolis Symphony. What a classic. You're listening to S-BACH, Subeta's home for classical music. Enjoy."

With a click, the Keeto turned off his microphone and hit play on the Mozart track. With a deep sigh, he leaned back and cracked his knuckles. If there was an advantage to being a DJ for a tiny, unknown radio station, it was that he didn't have to waste energy talking too much. He just played the music and hoped the listeners-- there were dozens of them!-- liked it.

He closed his eyes, letting the soft piano and strings overtake the recording booth. He could almost see the orchestra in front of him; neat rows of strings... the shiny brass of the horns... the imposing presence of the percussion... and in the front and center, a glistening grand piano. An unknown, ephemeral creature glided its hands over the keys, producing the sweet, clear tones. The strings hummed in the background, and a flute gently keened. And in front of it all, standing proudly on a platform, the Keeto himself! Clad in a crisp tuxedo, holding a baton, waving his arms gently to the music and gesturing to the different sections as the song continued.

Mozart's concerto faded out, into a few seconds of blissful silence. Then, the gentle oboe brought in Tchaikovsky, and in a matter of minutes the booth filled with pure, clear sound. The tubas thundered with deep, cavernous tones! The flutes and clarinets sang out in soprano harmonies! The strings surrounded him with beautiful music until he could no longer tell where it was coming from. It enveloped him completely as he stood, until he became one with the music, all the while conducting fervently! Every swell, every crescendo, every movement was guided by him alone! A hundred eyes glanced up at him, keeping time as they played their wonderful melodies. It felt like his very heart was beating in time with the breathtaking sound!

"... Simon! Simon!" a voice hissed, and the Keeto abruptly woke from his daydream. A white Tigrean was standing in the doorway, gesturing furiously to the recording equipment. "You've had dead air for fifteen seconds!"

He quickly pressed the button that would bring his smooth voice back on the airwaves, hoping the listeners would think it was just part of the song's fadeout. "Again, that was Tchaikovsky, Lake in the Moonlight. You're listening to S-BACH. Next up, we've got a great Beethoven piece..."

Simon sighed inwardly as the music once more flowed through the speakers. At least in his dreams, he was conducting beautiful symphonies.
