Vivan braced herself as she hid behind the bushes.

The angel chai was watching a glade ontra lovingly tend to her garden and minions. The scene seemed peaceful, but Vivan knew that danger was lurking below the seemingly serene surface.

Vivan’s duty was to track down monsters called “Love Hydes.” Love Hydes were people infected with a virus that turns them into strong monsters. The transformation is caused when an infected being starts having strong feelings of love. First, the infected starts having pink hearts appear on their body. Next, the infected starts to have dizzy spells, which tends to lead to the being fainting. Eventually, the infected turns pink and transforms into a monster of great strength and agility. The whole experience was like getting the love bug, only it was magnified by 1000 times.

One very bizarre aspect of the love hyde phenomenon is the fact that the form of a love hyde is determined by the person’s personality. People who are quiet yet diligent and patient will turn into a humongous spider. Those who are gentle will turn into butterflies. Brave souls were transformed into eagles, playful souls were turned into dogs, and timid souls became moles.

The glade ontra who tended the garden was one of those infected. She had undergone the transformation a couple of nights ago. The ontra had been watching a romance flick and had gently drifted into dreamland. She soon began an intimate encounter with her crush, an aqua kumos. As the dream progressed, the ontra’s feelings of love grew stronger and stronger. As one might expect, the ontra’s dream caused her to transform into the spider version of the love hyde. While in this form, the ontra was meticulous. Every thing had to be perfect, just right for the one she loved. The ontra began to furiously clean and organize her cottage. Once that was done, she wandered off to one of her crush’s favorite hangouts and wove a humungous web with her crush’s name embedded in the center. Needless to say, the next day various news stations had flocked to the area like vultures and the entire town was bewildered.

Vivan slipped out from behind the bushes and called out. The glade ontra turned her head in surprise and saw Vivan. Suddenly nervous, the glade ontra asked why Vivan was there. Vivan took a deep breath and began asking the questions that she had grown accustomed to say in such a scenario.

The encounter with the glade ontra had gone well. But Vivan knew that things could get worse before they got better. Once she had been assisting a riftborn paralix who was undergoing the love hyde transformations. Despite his wild appearance, the paralix was a timid creature and would use his abilities to avoid potentially awkward or dangerous situations. He had developed a crush on a female golden mahar but lacked the self-confidence to approach her. He transformed into the mouse version of the love hyde and began wandering around town collecting items that he knew his crush liked. The transformed paralix would then store his spoils in a small cave several miles from his home.

Eventually, the paralix changed into his love hyde form and went to spirit her away to his home in hopes of starting a happy life together. Such behavior was typical of love hydes; they tend to create a comfortable environment for a crush first then eventually become determined to get their true love….no matter what it takes. Once a thought like that gets into a love hyde’s head, it is EXTREMELY difficult to stop them. Those who have become love hydes describe themselves as having their feelings of love controlling them like puppet strings. In addition, one pet stated that it felt like that their brain had gone numb due to their intense feelings of love.

A word of wisdom to anyone who has become the apple of a love hyde’s eye: DO NOT RUN AWAY. Love hydes are exceptionally strong and fast. They WILL catch you. Once a love hyde grabs you, wait until they bring you to their home or other designated place they have set aside for their crush. After bringing their crush home, love hydes will begin to zealously dote on their crush. They will cook for their crush and make sure that their crush feels comfortable.
