As he swung his massive head side to side, his chains rattled and rang with the sound of an unending curse. Up until the day the Asuras captured him, Mumbai had enjoyed strolling his family’s gardens, picking fresh fruit to cool his throat on the hottest days. He would call for the family servants to help him harvest the extras for pies and tarts, pushing with the servants through the branches even at risk of losing any of his fine jewelry adornments. Now his only adornments were the shackles around his neck and front legs. On the day of his mother's birthday, Mumbai had scoured the local market for fresh flowers. His mother loved fresh flowers. He only wanted to let her know just how much he appreciated her love and kindness, but he hadn't seen her since that day two years ago. The Asuras, a notoriously evil cult from northern India, attacked the market, viciously murdering anyone in their way. Mumbai started to turn and run when everything went black...His large size was his saving grace, if he even considered it grace anymore. In a desperate attempt to gain money, the Asuras had taken over a small diamond mine, using hostages as their main labor force. Mumbai had awoken in chains. As soon as he gained consciousness, they put him to work, prodding and whipping him when he felt too weak. For the last two years, the Asuras forced him to haul enormous carts of rubble and waste from the depths of the mining caves, ending his days covered in thick patches of brown, gray, and black grime. With each passing day, he grew physically stronger, but spiritually weaker. Freedom appeared a distant dream...
