What do you want to be when you grow up?

Ever since I was a little Chai, I knew exactly what I want to do with my life. It might sound like a lie but in honest truth, it's not a lie. My parents started up a cafe when I was just born. We didn't have much but our little life in our cafe shop was oh so sweet. I would remember after school I would always go to the cafe to help my parents with the family business. Some kids made fun of me for being in a poor family because I wasn't able to have fun and play but I would have to work. I ignored them because I know I wasn't from a poor family but a happy one because we are able to create so many great memories. My mom would always tell me to never let the other kids make me feel bad because in the future at least I know what hard work can really do while in their mind they only want to play. I always had to reassure my parents that I am happy and that working with them at the cafe shop is not a chore but something that I like to do. I am able to learn how to make all types of coffee and bake goods. Although I am a man, I think baking is a great art form like making a cup of cappuccino with a unique design of cream.

Once I graduated university I worked full time at the cafe shop with my parents and I can see how tired they are. I am proud to say that our cafe shop has four other branches in the country. Not only does my parents have the headache from making sure all the cafe shops are up to par like our own but they have to keep up with the products in our own shop. I am happily learning from my parents each day about the business and would input some of my ideas of how to make the shops a bigger hit. All these new trends and taste, we need to be up there so all these new shops would not steal our loyal customers.

A couple years after graduating university I have slowly taken over the family business while my parents got to lay back and be able to travel the world like they have always dreamt of. I run the shop with two other employees and would also travel to see the other branches to look at their profits and see if there's anything to change to make the shop better. Ambience wise, they are all similar and have the same feel of a simple, cozy cafe shop where you are able to relax and do work. Although we have a time limit because we do not want people to overstay their welcome so new customers can use the area for their drink. However, if you want to stay longer than the time limit, you can only if you buy another drink because how else are we going to keep things running well. As the new owner, I try to understand the young customers who are still in school because I was once just like them at my cafe shop but also had to think like a businessman.

I am proud to say that our Little Cup of Sweetness has been in business for the past 20 years and is happy to make everyone's cup of coffee a little sweeter.
