Name: Vesper Anduli

Age: 53

Gender: Female

Orientation: Panromantic Demisexual

Description: Willowy and slim, Vesper’s figure is marked by pronounced angles, particularly bony around her edges and filled in otherwise with sinewy muscle. Her petite stature at 5’5” tall doesn’t detract from her presence, her movements commanding and punctuated wherever she goes. Time has treated the woman well, with wrinkles only just beginning to form at the corners of her eyes and mouth and otherwise preserving her a flourishing middle-aged look. Short lilac hair is kept just below her chin, and is formed into soft waves streaked silver with age. Pale blue-grey eyes fade darker at the edges, upturned and stern in their gaze. Vesper is normally dressed in flowy tunic-style tops with simple pants underneath, accessorizing with thin silver jewelry, and thin sandals or flats. She is never found without her silver and black cane, the handle rounded and embellished with patterned filigree and her initials scripted into the top. Vesper walks with a minor limping gait caused by an extensive leg injury that never healed properly, though it doesn’t slow her down too much, she insists.

Occupation: Second of the Council of Five, the elders governing Clan Vivere; Vesper manages the bookkeeping, finances, and clan records.

Personality: Practical and logical, Vesper possesses a headstrong attitude that rarely wavers in its course. This causes Vesper to come off as stubborn and curt, preferring to keep to herself and her work rather than socialize. She often tolerates no excuses in others and respects only those that work hard and earn their way through life honestly. A ‘tough love’ kind of person, Vesper shows her approval and encouragement through less gentle means, normally offering constructive criticism and ways to improve before comfort and sugar-coating anything. She is normally mistaken for a cold person who can be convinced of nothing, but in truth Vesper is extremely pragmatic and a willing person to listen to reason, only demanding decent explanation to sway her opinions. She has the potential to be a great leader and orator, instead having grown weary of the idea and keeping herself out of the direct spotlight in order to focus her attentions where needed. She speaks up and takes charge only when necessary, often surprising people with her force and demands, but everything Vesper does is meant for positive change. As much as Vesper is a stickler for rules and is known to be defensive of them, she sees no problem in bending them and asking for forgiveness later if it benefits the clan as a whole. The other elders are constantly frustrated by her as a result, but her adaptable skills and careful attention to detail have made it known that Vesper is not a force to be argued with easily. Once given a chance past her intense front, Vesper does show a caring nature to others, and is an excellent mentor and patient person that listens well and is willing to help when she can. Vesper shows no signs of slowing down any time soon, and as reclusive as she keeps herself, routine and daily business help give her purpose and distract the woman from more negative thoughts. She strives to be as even-tempered as possible, but cross the woman once, and one will know the true fury she keeps deep below her surface.

History: Both a fond memory and a harsh reminder of loss, Vesper speaks little of her life before Vivere but knows it as having been fast-paced and eventful. The daughter of a ‘rags to riches’ situation where her parents struck it big on airship commerce and built an empire on air travel, fortune seemed to smile over her family. Vesper was pampered for a time in her youth where the change in status was extremely impressionable on the girl. She learned a great deal of respect for hard work and dedication but at the loss of attention from her parents once the business picked up and time was a luxury for the pair. Vesper did her best to learn how to be self-sufficient and independent, throwing herself into her studies and into various hobbies as well as learning more about the family business in a attempt to cope. Often lonely, Vesper kept few friends and purposefully distanced herself to preserve stability, often keeping positive if only to keep the family together.

Vesper was rarely privy to the real workings of the business, and as she grew older she noticed that the idyllic, thriving commerce she thought was flourishing was not as she imagined. The world was often cutthroat, and her father made decisions that both angered and created deep envy among rivals and partners alike. Where Vesper could begin to see the cracks appearing in the company’s surface, her mother often helped save face enough to preserve their stature. Secrets kept from the young woman prompted her to delve into more than Vesper bargained for, finding out information that connected her parents’ business to questionable dealings and borderline illegal transactions. These were the very things that Vesper insisted her family would never partake in, believing their integrity most of her life. It had Vesper questioning everything she knew, especially the consequences to come for the mess they were all entangled in.

She would find that out in her late teenage years when the growth of the airship business became a particular encroaching threat on a group Vesper never imagined was real — witches, the things she thought were simple stories to scare children with. One group in particular targeted the company and made known that whatever wrong Vesper’s parents had wrought, scorning witches was the ultimate mistake. Retribution came by fire, quite literally, when the main base of operations — which Vesper happened to be touring that day — was attacked and set ablaze by several coven witches. Vesper refused to allow anyone to tarnish her family’s hard work — no matter how far in the hole they were — and in fighting back found out the cruelty of witches. Suffering extensive wounds from the attack, Vesper remembers little of the direct events after, only that she was able to escape and woke to the news of the destruction of her family’s corporation and that her parents were nowhere to be found.

Rattled deeply with depression and a fierce loathing of witches and their ways, Vesper went into hiding and traveled far from her home city in an attempt to hide from further assault, using what resources she had at her disposal to try and locate her family’s whereabouts. As the Anduli name and fortune dissolved from the lack of leadership and the damage caused previously, Vesper had little to nothing left by the time she encountered Clan Vivere, her discovery of such only due to her having been aggressive towards witch scouts she met on her travels. She was captured by them and held prisoner until the council at that time interrogated her, finding out who she was and understanding her aggression. When Vesper was released from confinement she was offered a trial period living in the clan, and begrudgingly accepted if only to gain access to support in destroying the witches that had in turn were the downfall of her livelihood.

Vesper had not intended to get so deeply entrenched with Vivere, wanting only to use it for her own ideals and leave as soon as possible, but Vesper found herself set in the clan’s ways long before she realized it. Much to her chagrin she found her talents useful in monitoring and assisting with clan finance and operations, working her way up to document and manage most of the entire clan’s budget and expenditures. Being a progressive mode of change at a time where the clan was stagnant and less stable, Vesper’s ‘meddling’ grew the clan twofold in its earnings in her first decade there among other successes. As much as Vesper insisted on keeping to herself and out of the eye of others, she was watched with great interest by the clan and it surprised Vesper to be suggested as an elder, let alone appointed as one via vote. She took the position only after heavy convincing, and often insists that she simply ‘helps push the clan in the right direction’. Vesper will never admit that she has a vested interest in never repeating the mistakes her parents had before, and that Vivere has become a home more than any other place to her. She has never given up her quest in finding her parents once again, even decades after losing everything she knew, and her need for revenge is always fresh in the woman’s mind.

Abilities: Vesper’s wit and intellect are her greatest assets, but she is also decent in combat and can hold her own against skilled opponents. Her cane extends to a long pole weapon which she has been extensively trained to use, well enough to disable, stun, and, if used harshly enough, break bones.
