Imagine, you wake up in the middle of the night, your stomach feels sick and your cheeks red from a fever. You rush to the bathroom and lean over the sink, coughing and drooling with your illness. You turn on the faucet and fill your cupped hands with water, then quickly splash in on your face. Taking a deep breathe you look up at the mirror. You see your reflection, looking pale with glassy, tired eyes. Blinking a few times, you examine your face a little more. Maybe its because you're feeling sick, or maybe its because you just woke up, but something seems off about your appearance. Where your eyes always like that? What about your mouth, it seems...wider? You raise your hand to your face to feel around. Wait, why are your nails so long? You quickly bring your hand down to the sink and stare at it. Your nails are same as they were before you went to sleep. Then why did they look like that in the mir.... You pause, suddenly feeling eyes on you, watching you. Slowly you raise you head and come face to face with You, but not you. Distorted and smiling like the Cheshire Cat. The mirror You wasn't following your actions. It was moving on its own.
