The unspoken rule of being a spider is to survive, you must hide.

Hiding was easy. Existing was more difficult. The constant struggle of living in isolation to avoid being killed was exhausting. Humans couldn't be trusted... but as much as they hate us, we have no choice but to coexist. Tucked in the rafters of a porch... nestled in between window screens... hanging delicately in the hidden corners and crannies of their homes. There are homes we make in the wild, but it doesn't last long either. So we sneak silently and hope they don't notice. We even eat the nuisances that buzz and crawl around their home, yet they think we're the pest!

Humans are the real pests, saturating every corner of the planet... leaving no room for anything else. Always walking through our webs, disgusted. Using brooms to clear away our homes built with so much effort. There are some of us who get brave and build in plain sight.. they never listen to our warnings and it never lasts. It always leads to migration. This is the routine for a spider: build, hide, hope, grieve, migrate, repeat. it's been this way as long as we can remember...

until she came along. And what a breath of fresh air she was. a spider would be lucky to crawl on her porch and call it home. she was the epitome of grace and kindness, ignoring our webs in the corners. If we came across her path, she always scooped us up with ease and safely set us on our way. Not a single spider feared squishing from her.
