The unicorn found herself no longer like the others. She had felt emotions, suffered through love and loss, and by all means gained a human soul. She tried her best to fit in, but she did not feel the same connection as she had before. Mortality had ruined her for the life of a mythical beast. As much as she wished to deny it, she wanted to be human once again. Maybe then she would fit somewhere into this vast and strange world.
After a long time debating this choice, the unicorn gathered up her strength and moved away from the protection of her forest once more. She knew there was someone out there who could help change her back into 'Amalthea'. Beforehand, Schmendrick was a silly excuse for a magician, but he had since then grown and now harbored a great deal of power. He had changed her human and back once before, and she was sure he could do it again.
It took a long time of searching before she found Schmendrick, who was still in the company of the good Molly Grue. As she could see, the couple had grown close. She was glad for the pair, albeit she knew she would be envious of them as well. Nonetheless, she pursued her ambitions and requested she be turned to a human. Schmendrick made sure to inform her than Prince Lir had moved on, and she would no longer have the chance to be his wife. The unicorn knew of this, as she watched over the prince often, but she still wished to continue. As much as he tried to warn her of the consequences her choice would bring, it was apparent that there was no changing the stubborn unicorn's mind.
Schmendrick gathered up clothing for the lady Amalthea, for he knew she would need them as soon as his spell was complete. He told her that he could keep her memories of her previous life this time. It would not fade over time, as Schmendrick's magic had grown much more powerful. He had become something that no one had expected from a haphazard, traveling magician. After a moment of silence, Schmendrick began to chant a powerful spell towards Amalthea.
Carefully, her form began to change to that of a human lady. There would be no going back now.
