I have always had a weakness for the 80s. Whether it’s about movies, TV-shows, cartoons, toys or music. All of it has a special place in my heart. Some might say that it’s because I was born in that decade, but I can’t really say that I, personally, remember much from that period of my life. I was born in 1984, after all, so by the time that I was old enough to make memories that would last, the 80s were practically over. But I think it helped a lot that my mom was a big fan of the music of the 80s, and every time that me and her took a ride in the car she always had a cassette tape with some 80s band playing. I should point out though that my mother was not a fan of heavy metal music in any way back then. She’s much more open to it nowadays, but back then it was all Boney M, ABBA, Modern Talking, The Boppers (a Swedish rockabilly band) and Elvis Presley. No, my love for the glam metal genre came much later. I’d say that it was in 2000, after Bon Jovi released their song It’s My Life. After that I wanted to hear more from them so I started listening to their older stuff. And I’ve never looked back, or regretted a single moment spent listening to this glorious genre.
To me this genre represents happiness and a love of life. And the guitar solos are just *chef’s kiss*
So, instead of listing songs that I like I am instead going to list some bands in the genre that I like. And I’ve divided them into two lists. One with the older bands and one with modern ones.

So, to start things off we have the older bands. The originals, if you will. I know that there are many more that I could list here but I didn’t want an unending list here so I just went with ones that either came to my mind when I was starting to write down bands, or ones where I went “Ah, yes! Them!” when I googled bands of the genre.
Now, Bon Jovi was a given since they’re the ones that started my love of the genre to begin with. And I still very much love the band to this day. Their album Slippery When Wet is such an iconic album with a lot of gems on it ♥️
Now, I should mention that on the linked playlists I have only included the songs that were on the albums that were released during the late 70s, the 80s and the early to mid 90s. And this goes for all of the older bands.
Anyway, these bands and their songs are nostalgic to me. I’ve heard some of them so much over the years that they will always have a place in my heart.

Okay, time to move on to the modern bands. And, I have to say that some of these bands are dearer to me than the older bands. Especially when it comes to bands such as Reckless Love and Nestor (and H.e.a.t, but I have a whole separate pet for that band) because their music sounds more 80s than the songs that were actually made during that decade. These songs ooze 80s, and I am here for it!


I, for one, am looking forward to hearing more music by these modern bands. I want to have more glorious guitar solos and just pure 80s sounds to listen to ♥️
