"A deal's a deal."

It had been ten years, but he wanted more - they always do.
They always want to pay the price of their greatest wishes, their shortcuts, until the day comes that the trade is to be made. Then, then comes the regret, the tears.
Some run - far - to other states, countries, over water and in places where other men would regard them as dead.
But not me, not I.
I was made for this, born to this purpose. There is no place anyone can run that I will not find them, will not hunt them down. My legs never tire, my paws wont crack or bleed, my lungs breathe no air. I can smell their soul; tainted by their lust and greed and sloth and despair. I can hear their weeping; begging the light, desperate for another deal, a new deal, anything to escape their promises, avoid their debts.

The scream cut short - silenced - the warm blood leaking down my throat, my jaws, a pool of wet dirt beneath my paws. My master, dispassionate, let the tainted and broken soul play across his fingers,
