Neria came from a matriarchal spider clan in which her mother was it's leader. Living up in the mountains away from prying eyes they lived in peace amongst each other and the creatures they shared the land with. As peaceful as they seemed it couldn't be said that their interactions with the lost men they found wandering their territory were peaceful at all. The men they captured were used to mate with which was the nature of their kind and then eaten. Their clan was completely made up of females and there had never yet been a male born to any of the matriarchs from times past.

At the ripe age of 16 years old she had never come in contact with a human. That didn't stop her from becoming fascinated with their possessions. The things they had in their bags that they toted over their shoulders always had something knew. Whether it was a magazine, water bottle, even something as simple as a brush was new and exciting to her. Even if her existence was to become the future of her clan she wanted more than to trap humans and eat them. She yearned for something greater.

Romance.

As her 17th birthday approached she knew it would be her coming of age ceremony where she would be allowed to go on her first hunt. She would find a human man of her own in which she would trap and mate, ultimately devour. Which was the farthest thing from what she wanted to do. Falling in love, going on a 'date', having a romantic candle lit dinner, there must be more than this.

To her delight the cards would be in her favor on her 17th birthday. As she dragged her feet when it came to leaving to find a poor wandering soul she came across more than just one. A group of them to be exact. They were exploring uncharted land and her lack of experience lead to a lack of fear. As she exposed herself to them without worry she would be in danger.

It was a miracle they didn't all have heart attacks and die at the sight of a baby faced young girl with six arms and multiple eyes darting around her face. It was only her luck that they were a group of curious humans with a curiosity that matched her own. She went back to her mother that day without having trapped, mated, or killed anyone. Instead with the proposition that she would take over in her mothers place if, and only if, she allowed her to go with them. To see the world.

Reluctantly her mother agreed and off she went with her new human friends to live her dream of being like a human. Her welcome to the world was not as kind as she would have hoped for but there were so many wonderful things that she fell in love with those little details like the acceptance of a warm welcome was cast aside. They taught her to read and she fell in love with the idea about being in love after reading countless magazines, romance novels, and books on love she was sure she wanted to fall in love and live happily ever after.

She learned to sew in which she always had to make her own clothes, nothing ever seemed to fit her right otherwise. Her new friends, the researchers from the mountain, were doing their best to understand her. Her anatomy, culture, everything about her. They worked equally as hard to gather information to release to the public about her and her kind. Trying to open the door to the possibility that there were other beings in the world that needed to be explored, respected, and accepted.

She was sure she would find the love of her life before she went back home. Even though she promised her mother she would come home after everything she'd seen she wasn't sure she could keep that promise.

Spiders need love too!
