"MREOW!"

A cute little kitten confidently sauntered up to the legs of an elderly man standing in the fishing docks and made herself known. She rubbed her face on his leg and purred, clearly begging for something. It might have startled the man, but he had noticed this kitten visiting the docks for some time now, and she had gotten friendly after he had given her a piece of fish.
"Why hello little friend. Have you come to get a snack from me today?"
"MRR!" She happily replied, bouncing around in a circle.
The old man reached into his little bucket of fresh caught fish and sliced a piece off. The kitten greedily snatched the fish from his fingers and bolted for the woods. He chuckled to himself. Nearby his granddaughter, no more than 6, sprinted from the little fishing shed with a gleeful smile.
"Papo was that the kitty?! Can wee keep it?? PLEAAAASE!!"
He shook his head. "Your Mi Ma would have my head if I brought that little one home." The child frowned. Sad that they would not have a kitty to visit all the time.
"Oh! Can we leave a bowl out to put fishies in? Does kitty have a name? How about Roe! That's my favorite!" She was so excited at the prospects of kind of adopting a kitten that lived by the docks. Her grandfather agreed to get a bowl that she could paint and leave it out here for the kitten.

The next day the child proudly brought out the kittens new bowl. Painted on the side was R-E-A-U. It wasn't how roe was spelled, but her french background might have influenced the misspelling. But it was Reau's new bowl, and they filled it with fish.
Then from the bushes rushed a little kitten, looking for their delicious fish. "MREOW!"
