It was now late November, and with Winter coming up, a fire was built. The glowing embers leaped and twirled into the starry skyline, flickering and illuminating the night as the heat of the fire struggled to penetrate the chilly air. Katsa was rolled over on her back, legs lazily stretched out on a fat wooden log, a satisfied grin on her face after their heavy meal. It usually consisted of the usual fish and squirrels, but today they got lucky when they chanced upon a wounded deer in the woods.
Katsa turned her head over to look at Po. She wasn't sure if he was asleep, but his eyes were closed and his breathing was slowed. She observed how the tree branches above casted long shadows across his distinct cheekbones and angular jaw, his tanned skin and his tousled dark hair. He looked devilishly handsome, even when he wasn't trying. It was at that thought that Po's eyes snapped open, and his gold and silver irises pierced her blue and green ones. The left side of his lip tugged into a smirk, and his eyes twinkled as he sensed exactly what her thoughts were of him.
