Your feet ache from exploring the Carnival all day. In your arms is a giant stuffed animal, an abundance of leftover tickets in your pocket, and a day full of merriment in your memories. There are less people milling around, the children slowing down from their sugar rushes, and everything but the rides are starting to shut down.
It seems a good time to head home.
As you make your way down to the beach, you hear a small whisper, coming from behind one of the poles of the pier. “Psst..” You look around, “Psst...don’t leave yet! You haven’t seen the greatest show on Earth yet!”
Suddenly, you spot a small Telenine pup, dressed in a checkered coat and hat, “Don’t leave yet! Not without seeing the show!” He dashes behind the pole, and wanting to humour him, you follow. What harm could it do?
“Oh Goodie! You came!” He claps his paws in delight and giggles, before looking up at you with a toothy grin, “Only two tickets to see the show….”
Well, how could you resist those big, blue eyes? You hand over two tickets, which he quickly stuffs into his pockets. He grins up at you, and puffs out his chest as he places one paw on his chest, and uses the other to take off his hat.
“Hurry, hurry, hurry! Step right up to see the grrrreatest show on Earth! That’s right folks, come and see Flealick’s Famous Faboulous Fleas! They jump, they flip, they walk on ropes and on top of balls. They pull ten times their weight. Yes, yes Flealick’s Fleas are amazing!”
He gestures to a small circus set up, that has small bracelets, rings, and various marbles, bouncy balls and strings set up. “Yes, yes, the show is about to begin!” He tilts his head and looks up at you, “Oh! How silly of me...you’re gonna need this!” He offers you a magnifying glass
Sure enough, you can see tiny fleas jumping through hoops, balancing on balls and marbles, walking across their rope, and pulling weights.
“So, what do you think?” He asks, his tail going wild.
“They are fabulous,” you say with a smile, and feeling generous, you hand over the rest of your tickets.
